They can't hold you to the $800 diagnosis. They've admitted it's a factory defect covered under warranty, which *SHOULD* include any/all labor costs.

Check your Owners' Manual under the warranty section. I believe it says that!

SOO. that means I dont get a loaner car for the week and a half its going to take to fix it. AND im going to have to battle over the reimbursment for the $800.

Atleast i got the main issue fixed, and I have an extra motor

SmokinOdum,

Good job in getting a replacement motor. I hope you can get your
reimibursment for the $800 bones as well. Have you considered taking
the $11000 cash over the new motor or if you still owe on the car
have them paid $11000 worth of payments? Something to negotiate
about.

I want to know what the Service Advisor who gave him the shaft on the "diagnosis" said.

I bet he's chomping at the bit, right now!

so who was moderating during all of this?

on page 5, smokin says what he is doing, and it wasn't until 9 or 10 that peace was finally made...

if that was one of my spats from back in the day, you all would have put a stop to it on page 3!

although I would have resorted to insults a looong time ago...

All I have to say is that a BIG fat thank you DONATION in Kevs' account for a "Donating Member" title would be in order.

I wrote service for years. Demand the $800 back. The fact that they are replacing the engine is admitting that the failure was caused by a warranty defect. You owe nothing.

I still havnt received the $800 yet.

Just got my car back yesterday. The new motor runs good. I think the old motor ran smoother.

If anyone needs / knows anyone who needs a healthy vq35 Im going to sell it for $1000. I paid $900 plus $200 shipping so Id like to make that loss up. It has just under 10,000 miles, and has proven to be strong motor. Ill probably list it up on ebay soon.

Thankx guys.

Just think you can buy the motor and have it's 4 cams ground for a lot less than the Nismo cams. Then you have nearly a full engine worth of spare parts should something go BOOM! Hmm... Tempting...

Smokin,

Hats off to you. You did an awesome thing swapping those engines. So Nissan took your salvaged engine out. Did they tear it up at all?

I'm glad to know that Nissan replaced your engine, as they should. Nice work. I live in Plano and I'd like to come see your motor. Send me an email.

Whatever happened? How's the engine running now? Did you get any reimbursement? Where's the used engine now?

Has anyone here done a successful 3.0 to 3.5 5th gen conversion? I know about one 4th gen. that had that done, but I haven't heard anything about a 00/01 Max.
