Going In Thursday for TSB's.
Taking in my '02 for the Wind Noise and the Hesitation TSB's. Is there anything I should suggest to my dealer to insure these are taken care of properly?

2k2wannabe, I guess I am just wondering what sort of information to relay to the service techs as when I set up the appointment, the service writer was not very knowledgeable of the TSB situation. I'm going to print out the TSB#'s and bring them in with the car and hope they are able to take care of the issues with no trouble.

Cool thanks. I've been around and worked cars for quite some time, but prior to owning my Maxima, haven't really ran into any issues such as the TSBs. Typically the cars I work on are older than me like 4-4-2's, Chevelle's and such. Thanks for all the information guys, I appreciate it.
oh... just like he said, tell them your car is experiencing the problems listed in the TSB and that you know there is a Service Bulletin on these issues and you'd like them fixed.
and to say he's "not very knowledgeable" about TSBs is wrong... he may not WANT to do them, but he knows the problems and how to fix them. Be firm, they'll do them. If you really think he's going to give you a hard time, print them from that site above and show them to him as a last resort.

I showed the TSB to the head guy and hes like uhh... those really arent for the general public but i said i was pretty sure this is the problem and when they called they were like yeah you're right, the rotors are warped... so they fixed those bad boys.
Are you serious? Hope he knows there are thousands of TSB's listed on the www.alldata.com webpage. Guess he knows now. How have the rotors been since they turned 'em?

Well my car has been at Germain Nissan of Columbus over night and I just off the phone with one of the technicians saying that they'll have to order the parts for the hesitation and wind noise TBS's. Also he said that he had to call Nissan to get the ok to do the wind noise TBS due to my car having 39k miles. I was under the impression that TBS's were done at the cost of Nissan regardless of miles? Any thoughts on this? Thanks.

but for the cost of 4' of tape (that's all the wind noise TSB is, really) they should do it for you.
Finally got my car into Germain Nissan yesterday for the hesitation and wind noise TSB's. No real stories there, the whole interaction between me and the service department was pretty cake. No issues whatsoever and no money out of my pocket either (my car has 39.5k miles. Germain called Nissan HQ and they gave them the ok to do these. Now on to the results.
I'll save the best part for last, so the wind noise is still apparent, but not nearly as bad. Only problem with that is, that right now in Columbus, OH we are having like 50+ mph winds, so makes it kinda hard to judge that repair. Does sound a bit quieter though, so I can't complain too much about that.
Now prior to getting this work done, I really didn't have too much of an issue with hesitation (no CAI yet). The best way for me to describe what issues I was having might sound familiar to any guys who have owned/driven V8 Carborated cars. When the car would be put under heavy acceleration it felt like a quadrajet with the secondaries not opening properly. Sorry to those who do not know what this feels like, like I said...best way for me to describe what was going on. Now that Nissan replaced the Air Flow Meter and reprogrammed the ECM, my car is so much more responsive. I was on dry pavement and left from a green light and got up to about 20 or so and really mashed it and the car downshifted (automatic) and broke the tires loose a bit. There was a little torque steer, but was controllable (actually kinda fun too).
Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my first TSB experience and am very impressed with the way my car performs now. Will be hard for me to justify the CAI at this point, but don't count me out just yet. If it improves the power and acceleration at all more than the way the car is running now, I'll be in heaven. I 100% love this car and the engine.
