changing belts
Other than the usual timing belt, most other belts dont really need to be replaced unless they are causing problems, such as squeeking. As far as I know, the timing belt is the only one that needs to be precisely positioned to make the car run properly. If the other belts slip or wear out a bit, they dont do any harm. For example, if the belt going from your crank to your alternator wears out a bit, it still will run at about the same rate, and wont cause any problems. I wouldnt worry about any of your belts

If you have high mileage on your car, it's cheap insurance to change your belts. I recommend no longer than 70k miles before replacement.
do have?
