Had my DDE's installed today!! They look so awesome, I could not be happier...we had no problems at all with the install. My only "complaint" is that they are so bright I can not get any good nighttime pics of them, hahaha...j/k. This is truly a great product. Awesome work Matt!!

Hey what is everyone using for the running light bulbs to match the color of the angel eyes. I should have my headlights done by hopefully this weekend and I want a bulb that is gonna match the color of the demon eyes nicely.

I have had a few problems with getting my stuff (broken ring) But umnitza has been nothing but great about communicating with me a getting me my ring out quickly. I think hge has been up front with me and very professional.
Funny thing is that when he sent me out the ring it was the less brighter one, but no problem he is ending me a new one right out.

More people should be as upstanding in the biz practices.

Thank you,

Gabriel

...I have also had nothing but good experiences with Matt's customer service. No problems with my rings at all. I did notice people almost breaking their necks to look back at them while I am driving by. I'm also gonna try to get daytime and dusk pics up tomorrow.

Your post makes no sense whatsoever. If you have a personal issue with me, bring it to a PM and I'll take care of it.

Otherwise, keep your mouth shut in the forums. Thanks

I hadn't installed these yet b/c I was waiting to receive my dimmer switches. I got them in, but now I'm not quite sure how they work...do I have to buy my own **** for these?

Anybody else tried installing the dimmer switch?

I just opened the package and visually the rings look intact, so I'll be testing the colors soon...

This thread is so negative, I hesitate to post here and bump it to the top. However, I have very minimal cold start issues, think the product quality is excellent, and love the look! I've seen countless positive posts on Umnitza's product and just wanted to remind anyone reading here that the complaints raised are by a very small minority. I love mine:

I just finished painting my headlights and stuff last night and tried mounting the DDE's. All i gotta say is these things were a b|tch to mount!..... I used a permatex RTV silicone that ended up being very messy and the rings kept sliding all over the place. My buddy and I finally got them to sit still and got weight on them and are gonna leave them for a couple days before we reseal the headlights. I just hope this silicone holds and I can clean up the mess and it looks like a clean install.

Yeah I was following the directions and they said to use a silicone so thats what I went with. Im gonna go pick up some epoxy either today or tomorrow and if they arent holding when we go back to my buddies house where they are setting Im gonna try to clean up the silicone best i can, hopefully it will come off ..... and use the epoxy. Ive opened these lights, cut the clear lenses for the turn signals, painted the housings, and now these rings are the biggest pain in the a$$ out of everything Ive done.....Not saying these things are junk by any means, just saying the install is harder than i thought it was gonna be......

For those of you who did install the rings, how is your fit.... It seems that on mine the tops of each ring are almost too wide to sit evenly on the edge of the reflector, but the rest of the ring fits nicely over the edge of the reflector..... Also on one of the rings, one of the mounting bases seems to be not even with the rest of the ring which is causing the ring to be slightly lifted on one side and not sit flush with the reflector.....I dunno how much of a big deal this, this might even be normal. Im a perfectionist when it comes to anything I do and Im kinda bothered by this and that doesnt mean Im right and that this is a defect or whatever.......

Once again, I am NOT trying to knock Umnitza's product in any way, Matt from Umnitza has been extremely helpful in responding to my emails and has provided AWESOME service, its hard to find any business that provides such quick and helpful service. All I'm saying in this post is that I find this install to be harder than I thought it was going to be and I am only posting my experiences to see if anyone else can relate to my install and provide some tips.

Thanks.

I used marine "goop" to attach mine. we let them set up for about 30 mins. with a couple of cd cases on them and they were on there really solid. We also put the silicone all the way around the ring, not just one the mounting tabs.

I used Epoxy on the tabs and used a drop of silicone on the bottom to secure the ring from moving and breaking

we originally experimented with a highly expensive peel and stick 3M silicone sticky.

We found that while it was extremely expensive, and easy to use, it worked WORSE than simply drops of silicone, RTV, or Permatex.

In fact, one bead of RTV when allowed to set, acted 2X better than 2 of those strips.

Those strips were probably designed for lighter applications and flatter.

So, while unfortunately, there is no current better way, you have a pretty good way.

We are experimenting with a clipping system that requires no glue like the one we have for the E46.

Only problem is that, in the clipping model, it requires far more precision with your hands and people are more likely to break the ring when installing it.

So we think we're probably going to leave it alone unless we have a breakthrough.

Me and 00SEinMA finished my headlights tonite. Since my car is still in storage for the winter we decided to install the headlights on his car and just wire the demon eyes just to see what they looked like and these things look AMAZING. The rtv silicone held them on very well and they are sooooo bright. I cant wait to get em all wired up in my car!!! Ill have pics in hopefully no more than a week....
