Why wouldn't a dealer do the recall?
I brought my 03 in for the recall and wind noise and hood vibration, and the service guy calls me to tell me that there is no recall for my car???
I wrote down the recall referance number to the recall on the drop envelop. I even said that it was in for the engine sensor when he called me.
Is it possible that my car does not need the service even though my VIN number is within the 400002-515067 range?
What should I do?

Go to another dealer if you can. I took mine in for the engine sensor recall and it was hassle free.
But he did say it was the only "recall" that applied to my VIN. Not noticed any wind noise problem, the hood vibration can be solved by adjusting the 2 bump stops under your hood out some to make a tighter latch. Good luck.

I just talked to the service manager and he said that there were no recalls on my car, I told him it was in the vin number range. He told me that he entered the vin into the computer and it came up with no recall, could it be that my car is special?

Here's a tip for everyone on the ORG, call the dealership and give them your VIN number, some cars in that range are NOT affected. They can tell you over the phone and you don't have to spend the day apart from our baby.

Crank position sensor recall - INFO
I have a 2003 SE and first found out about the recall from MSN-autos where I have my car "registered." That was in Dec 2003. i got the recall notice from NISSAN on 10 Feb 2004 and had the service done 2 days later with no problems. I also have my car registered with NISSAN on their website but the recall didn't show up there either til the other day (early Feb). My VIN was in the range as my car is an early 2003 (built in July 2002). My advice is not to rely on one source but to use this excellent site (forum) as well as the NISSAN and MSN-Autos web sites. Also, know that a dealer won't volunteer to do any TSB item unless you complain about having the problem. I also check 2001 and 2002 TSB data since not all problems are fixed permanently. Conversely, they MUST do recall items if your vehicle is affected. Just my .02

PWRLFT - I notice you're in Fairfax - did you take your car to Brown's Fairfax Nissan? If so, talk to the service team leader named Matt C. (Christenson, I think)...I've worked with him before and he's always been straight up with me and never tried to screw me - I even had work done that my warranty specifically said was not covered (strut) and they did it under warranty anyways!
