roadkill
wow a road kill post by me??? not the one u think i'm gonna post. k today on the way to school this morning. 7:55am. my class starts at 8:00. so i do 5 over speed limit with a suv following close behind me.. near the bottom of the hill. (i live in the boon docks) infront of a freeway a squirell comes zooming out, thump thump.. what was i suppose to do? slam on my brakes?? so i just said uh ohhh. and kept driving.. so my question is.. how do i prevent that from happnening?? slam on the brakes get it? or do the thump thump???man bad day to start off the morning..
The general rule of thumb is to not to try to avoid the animal unless it is something huge like a deer. If you tried to avoid the squirrel and ended up causing a wreck, the wreck would be your fault. The insurance company or police won't take avoiding a small animal as an excuse. However in your case, it seems like the SUV was following too close and if he did rear end you, it most likely would have been his fault.
thanx.
i'll be a crusade out to hunt my dinner down next time. we get so many deer over where i live. hurds of them just sit in your backyard and eat all the plants.. makes me mad.. i'm the gardener of the house.. arghhh. hahah a deer hit my bro's car before (yes deer hit the car not the other way around) left a fat dent in the door and the rear quarter panel. it was so damaged it had to be replaced. the deer just got up and walked away.
so you all sayin'. just run em' over.. man makes me feel bad.. i hate squishin' dinner. jp

Cruel...
Sure, if there's too much other traffic around and you're gonna cause injury to yourself or others, not much you can do. But to just run over innocent animals otherwise is f**kin mean. Just my animal-friendly $.02 -- have a heart.
Sometimes
you just can't avoid it....it is not a pleasant way to start a day. I'm suprised your reflexes didn't automatically try to avoid it...I know mine would have. Shoot the other day I was tooling down a road in the sticks in my 89 Full Size GMC pickup and a mouse...yes a mouse ran out in front of me. Automatically I tried to avoid the poor little fella...well he made it but I went thru a farmers fence and hit a cow and trashed my truck...but Mickey lived and thats all that mattered....
Seriously though...if I have time to stop or room to go around I'll do so...sounds like you didn't. At least it wasn't a skunk
