Blown HID question

G'day all, I know the HID subject has become old but I was wondering if someone might be able to help. I had a head light blow (HID) and took car top Nissan to get light replaced....but in getting car back, the bulbs don't match, the old bulb is slightly blue and and new one is amber in colour. Is this normal will the new bulb turn blue? Nissan is clueless..as I would like them to match they said it may be a balist causing it they said they are willing to fix problem..

try swapping the bulbs... that should tell you if it's the bulb or the ballast...

if the color follows the bulb, it's the bulb... if it stays put, it's the ballast..

Do HID bulbs yellow a bit over time? Did they put the same color temp back in?

Sc is right the bulb needs time to colorshift. 20hours should be enough time, i doubt its the ballast mainly because the bulb would have a hard time lighting up if the ballast was messed up. If it really bothers you tell nissan to put in a new bulb on the other side as well and then both will match.

as far as i know they become blue/pinkish and when really worn red/orange.

so most people will never see the red part. that's why buying 6000k bulbs is somewhat questionable as in a few years 4100 will shift to about 6000k anyway.

You got robbed man
Its recommended that both bulbs are replaced at the same time, for color and longevity issues. Since the bulbs usually go about the same time.

Update!!!!

I took the car into Nissan and they had it for a doy or so and could not figure out why the colour was so differant..Nissan switched the bulbs (put the old bulb in the drivers side) and got the sameb colour, so decided to replace both bulbs..the differance now is unbelivable..they are so bright..Nissan said they are a defferant bulb as the older ones had some coating that they are not alowed to use any more...I don't mind they work great
Pasific Nissan
