So if I send my ECU to technosquare for the flash should I ask them to just bump the timing while they are in there? Will they do it?

Does anyone know if anything can reset the advance back to stock timing? For example the idle relearn or a misfire/blown coil, etc? I'm assuming no but was curious.

I assuming the consult 2 can. I have no idea- I dont see why you wouldnt be able to go back on consult 2 and plug in a lower degree and do the relearn.

I think he meant accidentally set it back...I'm pretty sure the only way you could retard the timing again is through the Consult. This is obviously not the case for the 4th gen ecu

Correct. I had mine advanced back in '06 and have since replaced a coil and done some other things.

My IACV just went out and it fried the ECM as well. The dealer just ordered the new ECM and it will be in next week. Would it be ill-advised to ask them to do the timing advance with a brand new ECM, or should I wait a while to make sure everything is back to normal before I do it? I mean, it shouldn't really cost anything, it's already going to be hooked up to the consult getting the keys reprogrammed, etc.

UpRev's Cipher (http://www.uprev.com/products.php) - you need to purchase the cipher software package ($300)

I got it done, +3*, I've definitely noticed and increase in low end torque, around about 1500-2500rpm...might go up 2 more degrees but I'm gonna wait until it gets hot out to make sure there isnt any ill effects with the 3

Anyone know of any shops in NJ who are willing to do this? I went to my local dealer said $112 bucks for 30 min work......I think not. Hesitant to ask Nissan mechanic instead of desk.

Only real downside is that you have to use 93octane

Why not straight from the factory? I would say that they probably wanted to play it safe in regards to knocking/pinging since the cars end up getting sold at different elevations and climates.

Hesitant why? Go ahead and ask him. Offer him a $20. Anything more is unreasonable as it takes less than 3minutes

Does it take less than three minutes? One guy said it takes a half hour for the program to upload into the ecu? Don't think so....or am I wrong.

downside... increased emissions.

Takes 5 minutes with autoenginuity so shouldn't take 1/2 hour with the consult 2, but they will charge minimum 1/2 hour to one full hour.

I am going to stop by the dealership and see if I can find someone to do it.
I just got a 2K auto(it runs good but its slower than I thought it would be) so anything I can do to make it a bit quicker would be nice.
It stunk getting beat by a sentra ser I have only put 93octan in it so I am good there

1.) Check the date of the thread...

2.) If you got walked by a Sentra SE-R, you probably have some serious issues you should see about getting resolved before you consider a timing advance. I've never heard of the VQ30 being slower than a Sentra.

My 0 to 60 time is around 8 seconds according to a window mount G-meter. The SER is running a 7.1 sec. Mine is an auto which I know slows it down a little, I would have thought it would have been in the 7 second range.

If its suposed to be faster than it is(I have new plugs in it) then I guess I need to go to the dealership anyways and have them look at it.
Its a new car to me , on have had it about 2 weeks. It does get good gas milage(24.6 is what I got on the first tank)

I think the 0-60 on the VQ30 should run between 6.7 and 7.4 seconds. So you should've been able to run with or overtake that Spec-V.

Have your car serviced. It sounds like it's in need of a tune-up.

Edit: I never thought to take into account the mods on the SE-R. Any?

The SE-R was stock except a CAI .
What kind of things need to be tuned up. I just replaced the plugs. I am thinking about getting a header and CAI if its not too much trouble to install.
I had a 2002 SE-R that I modded myself so I have no issues doing the same here. Just need to know what will help the most (and is easy on the wallet)

I know I'm late but I know you should get PROPER tuning from a professional on a dyno and not on your laptop in your car at home. If you adjust A/F ratio and timing at the same time (using some kind of FIC controller) you will have a PROPERLY tuned vehicle and it should be safe, especially if you got headers, big bore MAF, CAI, exhaust, SSIM, etc! You can go to the dealer or backyard mechanic and slip some dude that don't give 2 craps about your car $20 to do whatever and they will, then when your engine have problems they going to deny doing anything because you don't have proof because you were trying to be cheap and get a quick fix. I know we want to get more power out the vehicle but we want it to be done SAFE and not ruin a great engine.

Slid past the service bay fri after work, and stopped where I seen a tech in one of the bays. Pretty much was like what's up cuz wanna make 20 bucks I need to plug up to ur consult.. He proceded to plug in the software and handed the machine over to me and went back to working on a versa. I couldn't tell if the update completed after adjustment cause there isn't a loading bar etc.. But when I tested it I knew it worked, nice lil torque adder! Pm me If u want it done in Memphis area
