Earlier this week I came really close to buying my dream bimmer but the dealer and I didn't see eye to eye on the trade value of my car so I took the car back. Ironically I get a call from my friend who works at the local Infinity dealership and he asks me if I am still intrested in the new Q. I go to take a look at it and I am in awe. This one sexy b@#%h. It even had 18" wheels and an in dash monitor to see behind you when you are in reverse. It costs the same as the bimmer that I was about to buy, 540i, but with a few more options. What should I do? After all I have already purchased some wheels and exhaust, etc for the bimmer that I was going to buy sometime within the next year.

yes PLEASE .. forget this ALTIMA crap

that q45 is hot. But you have to consider that as stylish and modern as it looks, it just doesn't fit the "young thrill seeker type" car option. I dont't know, get a 2002 m3.

Infiniti Q45 is more about Luxury.
BMW is more sporty kind of a car.

Infiniti is a first year production.

If you are talking about the 6sp 540i then go on the 540i.

well, the Q45 is said to handle just as well as the 540i, therefore it should just as sporty?

the Q45 is pimp

dude, that is a AWESOME car. BMW's don't come w/ anything. Even in the 540, a freaking cd player is optional. what a freaking rip.

If i was going to get the 6spd 540, i would get that over a q45, even though the q45 is nicer inside.

Man, i saw a black 540 w/ the sport package, it was freaking tight. w/ those red/white tail lights, it's freaking awesome. to bad the interior sucks a nut.

dunno, i'd pick the BMW.. first off, performance. handling has to be better.. 50-50 weight, and sport tuned springs and shocks... plus, i like the looks better, and the stock rims of the sport package too.

Its my next car...

If Nissan/Infiniti keeps up the pace with performance engineering, I think the Q would be a nice replacement for my Maxima. Not for a little while...I want to enjoy driving my 4DSC for a bit longer, probably a few years, and let the next iteration of the Q come out...or at least see this new engine tested.

I think the new Q is a great step in the right direction for Nissan to regain their presence in the Luxury market like they had when they first released the Q in 1990. We'll see how it goes for the next few years.

BMW's are nice but....

from what I have been told the maintenace costs some major dough. A friend of mine knew someone that bought a new Bimmer and over the span of 3 or 4 years they spent $8,000 on parts and labor on that car. No matter what a car costs ...that is outrageous.

Dude, the new Q is AWESOME. The main reason not to get one is that you'll provoke my ire and envy.

Also you could sell your bimmer stuff pretty easily.

get the bimmer!

i went to the zero to infiniti event at california motorspeedway. They had Q45, 540i and Benz E430..etc
bmw is the best handler, they one i drove was automatic without sports package and it still outhandled Q....u get that solid euro car feeling. Q got massive power too but bmw gives u that confident handling..even w/o sports package
i was driving near 90mph in bimmer but the guy told me to slow down....i feel i can go aboe 120 easy without the guy next to me....i drove up to 100mph in the Q but i think thats about the limit..the Q got the sports suspension "on"
but still feel alot softer than bmw's nonsports suspension.
alhtought Q got all the toys like voice recognition and rear view camera....i would pick a 540 anyday

You have got to be joking. There is no way that the Q is limited (by drag or governed) at 100mph. I hope not!

Personally, I don't think you buy the Q if you're looking for another 4DSC. Its a step up to owning a luxury sedan, not a sporty sedan. If you want sporty, stick with the I from Infiniti (or the Max) or go for that 540. I think the Q is a paired against the 7-series BMWs...apples and oranges...or at least that is probably Infiniti's goal.

Re: Re: get the bimmer!

The Q is a luxury sedan(not a sport car)
the BMW 540i 6sp is a sport car with a really good handling and that's been known for some good time. The Q is new, if you really want the Q, then see how it goes for couple of months to hear the impressions of people who bought it and then decide.

I pesonally think that the BMW 540i 6sp is a much much better car.

P.S We talking here on cars worth 60 grand, the maxima is 30 grand(fully loaded) so this is moving into a totally different car.

Hey Thanks for clearing that up. And to rocketshipon, test drive both cars, if you haven't already and go with the one that you like the best. Personally I like both of them.

i'm sorry i didnt make myself clear

i didnt mean to say Q's top speed is limited at 100mph
but on the curve at california motorspeedway...i can only get it to 100mph without losing control....it is a curve and not a straightline like on freeway from LA to vegas...
on the hotlap ride the pro driver took Q to 130mph on the oval track (diff than the one i drove on) i felt a lof of G force....like in disneyland....
i believe the top speed for Q is close to 150mpg or so.
i just feel that 540i got alot more potential even with automatic and no-sports pack.
test it urself if u dun believe me

check this month's Automobile Mag. i just got mine yesterday and they gave the whole low-down on it. good and bad. i think Automobile magazine is a very reliable source--better than Motor Trend. they're more professional.

my 2 cents? i like it. been wanting to tempt one to dust me. hahah... saw one on the road and it was purty.

Q45 body kit

Check this out. Cool modification!

The picture quality is not that good because it was scanned from Autoworld Chinese Weekly magazine(newspaper quality). The car was advertised by Metro Infiniti. Maybe someone can enhance this picture quality with photoshop or something.

GS430, 540i or 2002 Q45? hard to decide. We definitely need a comparison test between the three (So far the Q45 wins my heart though).

I like that kit. Makes the Q look pretty mean!

However, if I actually step up to the Q after my Maxima has done its duty, I don't think I'll be making any modifications. If you spend that kind of money and don't get EXACTLY what you want, then you should have bought a different automobile.

Re: Re: Q45 body kit

My good buddy at the dealer let me keep the Q for the weekend to see if would like it. May I say, I loved it!!!!! I think that I want to decide and way my options b/c I also like the ML 430 Mercedes and the 330ci and 540i BMW's. So right now it is a toss up! I decided to keep my Max as well. I love you guys, I wouldn't have that same bond if I didn't have my max.

Your pal,

Mark

540i

You will have more fun with the 540. Think of all the aftermarket for the 540, nothing yet for the Q!

I could not imagine spending $60K on a car and putting aftermarket parts on it. That kind of money deserves to be exchanged for a vehicle that is what you want, right off the showroom floor.

I test drove this car almost 2 weeks before it began selling and I was sitting with the salesman, we were righting the papers out and then he hit me with a 1300 dollar a month lease! It is not that I can't Afford it because I was ready to get a new S500 but for 1300 a month on a 60,000 car that is not even german! I decided to go on a Majestic Blue Anniversery Edition Maxima it was only $27,000 and I am already on the waiting list for the 2003 745iL so i guess in the mean time the Max is fine. I can't wait for my 745 though it is going to have 320+ Horse power where talking AMG 55 territory! I say wait with the Q for the new 745 and then decide!
