What's up everyone, I'm new to this board, and I'm considering purchasing a used 2002-03 Maxima over the summer. I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but do the black 00-01 tails fit the 02-03 models? I know for the SpecV's the tail lights changed in 04, and could fit the previous model with a little work. I was just wondering if this was the same case when it came to swapping Maxima tails. If I did end up with an 02-03 Maxima, I would definitely be interested in the black tails.

In short, the answer to your question is YES.

Glad to see you out in Tampa. I used to live there and miss it dearly

Hey how many coats of the tail light spray did you use? They look sweet

I agree. I don't like the silver ones at all on the dark colored cars, but on the lighter ones, especially silver, they look better.

HerBlue2kSE,

What did you do with your black SE lights? If you still have them, I would be interested in purchasing them. If not, thanks anyway. I think the clear lights look better on a light colored car like your wife's.

I know people were talking about the clear lights. What about the LED lights :
http://www.autocarparts.com/part/1668/173/ - Kinda pricey and ricey but maybe will float someone's boat

I would prefer something factory looking '02 but LED. The LED bulb replacements usually aren't bright, even the good ones. Does anyone make led tails more factory looking?

I knew there was a reason I haven't clicked on it in a while.

To answer a question last century, I used a few coats. You have to coat till it's dark enough for your liking. I'm redoing them and having them professionally cleared to give it that "trailblazer tails gloss".

Personally I can't wait to buy a 5.5 Gen, I've got the money but I'm gonna keep my '96 beater until I move out of the city next June. I'm not much for cosmetic mods (I like the bone-stock look) but I plan on swapping out the 02-03 tails for the nicer 00-01 SE tails right away. It largely depends on the color, but overall, I like the black tails best.

Exactly. Totally agree!!

I just purchased some '00/'01 GXE tails from classifieds. As soon as they get here, add me to the SE w/GXE taillight bandwagon. I have never liked and never will like the "Altezza" style '02/'03 OEM tails. The 5th gen GXE tails give a cleaner, smoother flowing look to the rear. IMHO of course...

Sorry I missed this earlier... sold the stock tails on the org shortly after I purchased the new ones. Thanks for the comments... man, I love that car and the color has really grown on me since we got it.
