D2S and D2R bulbs put out the same amount of light. Only thing is that D2R are for a HID reflector housing and have a shield to prevent glare? If you gain something, please let us know.
why dont you take yourself over to hidforum, readup and do your homework.Originally Posted by queenambeach

D2S do not contain the cutoff portion on the capsul. Therefore, allowing more light to exit. Yes, there is glare but I could care less...wait till I turn on my HID fogs.
In my own comparison, D2S lights up the road better than D2R.

True....and the connectors on the bulbs are different too.Originally Posted by lowincash
maybe d2s bulbs will give bit more light since it doesn't have that shield wrapped around the bulb...i remember on another forum there was a comparison between the two and one was slightly brighter but not too much difference.

wtf are you talking about. Connectors are the same. The only difference is the bezel, you will need to cut out a small opening to make it fit.Originally Posted by -Bionic-

ive done research for the past two weeks and i concluded that xtech 6k h3 gives out purple however the 6k headlights are white because of the bigger space in the headlights. and each brand has different ratings. 12k 9004 can be either deep blue or deep purple depending on brand...Originally Posted by n3985

VIP, I've seen your posts across the forum in search of a definite answer to your purple fog need. I hope this will clarify things once and for all. First of all, pictures of HIDs lights are not dependable due to the camera, camera settings, and various other variables that could distort the true color of HID. It is true that some HID kits are more purple than the others, HOWEVER, it is pretty much GUARANTEED that if you buy a 12,000K HID kit, you WILL get purple light regardless of brand.

I have 6k hid kit and light is great not too purple. Getting my stuff together for a retro of my headlights with tsx and phillips 4300 d2s with hella gen 3 ballasts. I have some spare e46 projectors up for sale if you need them.

those r helios arent they?
I used to have the KOPS 7000K D2S bulbs. They put out a nice light purple color and I liked em, but I got flashed by a few drivers, so I changed back to stock D2R 4300K bulbs with the U-shaped masking on them. No more flashes. If you want the best 6000K bulbs, get the Ultinons. They are damn expensive though.
