So I went into the garage today to get the Maxima out, and the battery is dead... I knew I forgot to do something...

I pushed it out of the garage, and tried to hook up the battery charger, but as soon as I hook it up, the horn starts to beep really quickly. Not like the alarm is going off, but something else. What's this all about? How do I go about charging it now?

Pop the caps off and add bottled water if it is a non-maintenance free like most. Than, ummmm, use a battery charger?

IIRC autozone will charge it also.

Excuse my noobiness, but how does that explain the horn beeping as soon as the charger is turned on? Is it supposed to beep a few times as something is starting up, or what's going on?

not sure if this is it, but my mom's old maxima had a stock alarm/antitheft system. all you have to do to disarm it is to put the key in the driverside door and unlock the car that way. it should turn off...

I did that, since the keyfob doesn't work when the car battery is dead. I tried putting the key in the ignition and turning it to on, but not cranking it, and all the lights are flickering, fuel guage tries going up, but keeps falling back down. I unplugged it, since I have no clue if that is hurting anything, or if it's some sort of a normal cycle...

I disconnected the battery, and am charging it up now. But what's gonna happen when I try to connect it again, same crap?

wwwaaatttt, its gotta be distilled water not regular drinking water, plus arent most modern batteries sealed of so you cant do that

So I let the battery charge while up for a while, and then hooked it up again, and the alarm started blaring, then I turned the alarm off with the keyfob, and it should be ok now. Thanks for trying anyways...

Same deal with the alarm in my old 626. Replaced the battery and as soon as I hooked it up, the factory alarm went off. Apparently it is normal for that to happen.

thanks.

i have a serious problem. I had the ses light on. i brought it to a garage and told me that it's the maf need to be replace. he suggested me to buy the original maf @ $650. i was like "no thank you".

He did all the other repairs( tie rod ,bolt joints, back breaks including caliper...etc $$$$) that had to be done. For the Maf he took it off and cleaned it.

Something i had to mention is that my car is consuming to much gas. I have almost to put gas every 2 days.At time the car is jerking like if the car was missing gas.

The SES is back on and I think it's time for me to buy the MAF but not at $650.

I've seen a few post mentioning about Dave B selling it it for less than 200$.

if i do buy it is it going to go bad on me after a few month.

please help.

this week i spent way too much money on the car.

Did i mention 2 days ago my altenator dies on me on the highway. i just changed it yesterday and now i have a error cd everytime i try to play a cd

*breathing slowly*

going to research a lil bit more in the threads..

I want to install my 2 12" Kicker subs and an amp in my car but I have the Factory Bose system in the car. Can I somehow hook up my system even though the factory deck probably doesnt have RCA outlets and a Remote wire?

Any help is greatly appreciated! thanks!

none, per se.

All available intakes are "WAI" (warm air intake) and this incudes the Injen, which claims it is a CAI but is not.

None are a "ram air" setup. Nor is "ram air" anything more than a marketing term, as there is no ram effects at automotive speeds.

You may or may not get any power up top (peak whp), most WAIs give 1-2whp at the top of the range but you will lose some low-end torque typically. the GAB (do a search) is your best option if you just want the sound and a little extra oomph - it will actually give similar/more power than most intakes.

IF you can find a Cattman or Place Racing intake on ebay or soething, those are actual CAIs wih better power throughout the entire range...but they're hard to come by these days.

In short: intakes are mostly just for looks and sound...NOT for power unless you have everythign else already.

you'll probably need a PAC adaptor. I would check with the guys here in the car audio forum for more specific advice.

I'm not familiar with the Weapon R, but one thing to do would be to get some measurements on where the filter will be mounted. For example, the O.D. of mounting tube, and then go to K&N and see what filters they have that fit that dimension.

Hey everyone, noob here both to the forums and to the 5th gen Maxima. I have just finished installing a new cd/dvd player into the dash to find that i had no dash lights at all. I did a forum search and found the problem to be a blown tail lamp fuse, which keeps blowing. Now i assume this is a short somewhere, so i have pulled the stereo out and found that i think i have hooked the ground wire from the head unit upto the radio illumination wire, where should i re run the ground wire from the head unit to to try and correct this problem? also i found that i also have a spare light yellow wire left over, what would this be for? any help greatly appreciated.

Frankencar doesn't exist anymore. Try Berk.

buy a beater *** car for 500 dollars?

I seriously doubt you can do the swap, get the car running right, and etc over a short period of time. There is always something thats gonna put you back.

Swapping a engine is a little more involved than a write up would explain. And if you're pressed for time, finding a VQ35, and swapping it into a Altima that's setup for the 2.5L, it might not be the best idea. Either way, good luck, but you probably won't find much about swapping a engine in the "noobies" thread. If this is something you are still going to go through with, your best bet is to find someone near you that's in the know. Better than a write up.
