sorry if this has been discussed before but i cant seem to find an answer anywhere and believe me ive become pretty good at searching....my questionis what engine mods can i safetly do with 00' GLE with 110,000 miles on it...CAI, muffler/exhuast, racing chip, headers, etc. etc...is there anything that i should really stay away from...the car runs very strong and was very well taken care of....

thanks

As long as the engine runs strong and doesn't burn oil, you should be fine with bolt-ons and improved engine management.

Spend a few weeks in here: http://forums.maxima.org/forumdispla...aysprune=&f=61

After you know the stickys VERY well, then post a question, if it has not been posted before. Always search before posting.

2000-2003 should be interchangeable as far as trunk/spoiler goes.

Does anyone know about any of the 6th gen spoilers http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41lblEOpPiL._AA280_.jpg

fitting a 5.5th gen (2002)?

Has anyone done it?? I'm not too sure what it'd look like but thought I'd inquire

I have a problem thats bothering the hell outta me, heres the scenario, in the morning mostly when i get in my car and crank it up it makes a scraping noise thats very bad, i dont think but not sure that it could be the starter because i had it replaced about a year ago. the noise will be like, it will turn over scrape and turn over scrape..something like that if you understood that. need some help on it if anyone has had the same problem.

It's either a starter problem or a broken tooth on the flywheel. Most likely in your car it's the starter not fully engaging. I would start with the starter. If you don't get this taken care of it can damage the flywheel teeth and cause more expensive repairs.

So I am just curious in the difference between the auto climate control and the regular (manual) one? I have the manual one. Why do some models have them and some don't? Is there any swapping possible that is direct replacement? I like the look and use of the auto better, and it's just something that I'm interested about; couldn't find anything from searching. Thanks in advance.

From what i gathered on the org, the auto climate control was an option and is not easily swappable into your car if you have manual. Way too much re-wiring and some type of sensor issue i believe?

It will work, but IMO, too loud. Stock catback is fine, it's the manifold area where the true restriction is.

remove the resonator (it was designed to reduce intake sound...you dont need it now)
leave hole open (if anything, it draws in more air)

ECU Reset

I have some check engine codes being thrown and I want to reset them to see if they pop back up. I can swing by Autozone and have them clear the codes or I can just take the negative off of the battery overnight. Do you see any benefits one way or the other? My goal is to see if the codes come back by the weekend. Thanks, this forum is a great resource.

Why reset the light? I would rather get the codes and fix / address them.

I have the codes and I want to fix them this weekend. I want to clear the codes to see if a P0420 comes back -- I want to see if it throws the code right away when I start the car.

It wont throw the code w/light right away when you start the car. It takes 2 trips.

Go to Autozone, have them reset it. What year is your car? If it is an 02 / 03, there is a procedure that allows you to reset it yourself. It can be found in the stickys.

Thanks for the info. I saw the stickies and figured the easiest way for me to reset is to unhook the battery. 2001 20th Anniversary Edition AT with 130k miles. I am getting a P0420 (not too worried about) and a P0505 (worried about). The P0505 is saying the IACV is bad. I am hoping the P0420 was either thrown by bad gas or by the IACV failing.

I am receiving this car from a friend and I am hoping to fix it for miminal costs/time.

Does a 2000 Max with headers, after market exhaust, and a CAI need a bigger MAF? If so any suggestions? Thanks

1. headers are pointless on a 2000

Why are headers pointless on a 2000? I had cali emissions took that off and put in an entire cattman system.

That's a different discussion not intended for this thread. For Maximum performance, you want headers. That is all.
