Hey guys,
This would be a damn question, but still..
Would I get pulled (NY) for noise if I install this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...0668356&rd=1,1

Considering that I am only changing muffler, not pipes: Max 02 SE

Thanks

Besides looking with 3" pipes, you probably would not get pulled over.

judging by that itsy-bitsy muffler, I imagine that thing is loud and sounds like ****. If you like the large twin-pipes look, go with a Cattman catback, which we all know sounds awesome, but not TOO loud...

You said these were crap. I was curious where to look for info on these black halos (install, what people think, etc)? I really wanted them until I read this thread and it is now, unfortunatly, too late. MY wife got them for my birthday today (she ordered them when I thought they were going to be great and upgrade my stock 2000 lights) and I am stuck with them. Wanted to find out more before I install or if I can upgrade them somehow.

The only real upgrade would be to swap out the cheap-o projectors with some quality projectors. Several people have used Acura MDX projectors. Might want to touch base (PM him) with Dr.Roy, who has done this retro. Who knows, maybe he'd do yours for a fee....

Wasn't there a TSB / recall for that problem in a 6MT. I have an auto so didn't really pay attention, but seems to me this issue went around about two years ago. Will try a search for you and repost if I find it; otherwise you might check with the dealer (or DaveB).

There's a how-to in this thread. It's not hard at all on an 02/03 car.

Thanks for your reply. I was not aware that there might be a TSB for this problem. I'll look into it. Thanks once again.

yea, great writeup but not for my two left hands...
i will show to a friend of mine and hopefully he can get through this task..
actually, here is the whole picture- warranty on my car just run out and thats the reason for me to make some mods, even if something goes wrong i would not feel too concerned about warranty issues. I only got 30K after almost 5 years and will keep it for a while.
Thanks Josh

I had the same thing happen to my drivers side door. I had to buy new hinges (2) from the dealer. I think they were about $30 each. You then have to paint them and put them on. The body man I took it to charged me about $50 or so to paint them and put them on. He took a floor jack and put it under the door to hold it up then swapped out the hinges while I balanced the door on the jack. He said it is better not to unhook the electrical stuff to the door if you can help it. Also he took this big lever looking thing that adjusted the catch inside the door to line up with the bar on the door jamb it locks on to. Works good as new now.

Also are you from Memphis?

Nope, can't say I am from Memphis. How I got the nick was the codename for Windows 98. Back in the day...we got "a copy" before anyone else did. Ahhh..those days. I want to say it was around '96-97 and moving a downloaded OS over to the computer took lots & lots of floppy disks.

You can't. And why would you need to be going that fast anyways?

Can't answer you exhaust question. You should search the threads and the stickies.

Thanks.

Car is a 2001 Maxima SE. Purchased in California.
Just got a full tune up at the stealership ($800). Car has 100,003 mile.
Got a SES light. Went to Auto Zone and pulled a P0420 code. I'm confused to what the problem is because I read that it could be:
ECU reflash
Bad Cat
O2 sensor
MAF
What could it be?

honestly, I'd stay away. those are "universal-fit" and will probably requrie some modifications to fit the maxima.

What are you looking for? Louder? Catbacks do litte for the maxima in terms of power. If you're just looking for looks and are on a budget, get some magnaflow 2.5" exhaust tips and have a shop put them on. They look very good, and many people have used them. If you want more sound, get a y-pipe with stock exhaust....

If noise is what you're looking for, my opinion won't help you. There are only two non-stock maxima exhausts I personally like:
Cattman (if you want a louder tone that sounds deep and good) or
Frankencar (quiet when cruising, sounds fairly mean when at WOT....but almost impossible to find these anymore since they're out of production now).

Other than that, I think the rest just sound ricey.

They Maxima stock muffler is actually very well-designed and pretty free-flowing. On a N/A car, mufflers are generally just for looks or sound...not performance.

looks like will go with tips. 2.5" tips means inlet? do they go over existing tips or they must come off?
thanks

Guys,
I have Weapon-R secret short ram (not a dragon type) and need to know if install would cause any problems, like blow MAF sensor. I've read a lot of different posts and now not even sure if it is a good idea to pull oem box out. Any one has any feedback for Weapon-R on 5.5 gen. or just advice?
thanks.

the MAF problem with intakes is over-hyped. Most people have NOT had any problems....the people who have are just very vocal.

Whatever you do DO NOT GET THIS CRAP i bought one of these(ebay knockoff) like 3 years ago. These things are tiny and look crappy as hell sound like total shiet. Wasted money to get it welded on. ITS LIKE THE SAYING GOES YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. Save up some mullah and just get the cattman since frankencar is no longer made( BUT I GOT A FRANKENCAR WOOO HOO)

I used the yahoo advance search but I couldn't find what I was looking for. I apologize for this question as I am sure it has been asked a thousand plus times but can someone give me a link or thread that tells what I need to do to convert 02-03 headlights to a 01?

I just bought an 01 max and I want the 02-03 lights with the halos and clear lens.

Also, does anyone know anyone on the forum that will actually do the halo and clear lens installs and then ships them out? I only ask because I am new to the forum and I do not know the process.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

It will require a harness from the dealer. It will fit directly in there. And there has been a quadzillion posts about this. Good luck.
