haynes doesnt make manuals for "newer" cars because they know they wont sell very well because they are still under warranty and being serviced at the dealership. you can get the service manual that the dealership uses. its on here somewhere

Well heeeello there.

Not sure if there is a Haynes/Chilton for 5.5 gens. Try the FSM. It might be more helpful.

Also as a heads up maxgirl, don't take offense to what the guys say on here because you are one of the few girls that own a maxima which makes it a but just don't take anything the guys say offenseive or personal just try and ignore the ignorant comments that they make towards you if any.

I have a 2000 maxima with 67,000 miles and apparently my brake master cylinder is going out? After taking it to midas they say after "pinching" off my brake lines they say they found this to be problem. My question is, is this normal for this year car? I know the brake is the last thing I hit and I dont ride my brakes either, and no I dont let brake fluid get low or anything like that. I don't see any posts about this! PLEASE HELP!

The 5th generation Maxima is not known to have master cylinder problems that I've heard, also what you said sounds funny. You said that Midas said that they pinched off you brake lines and found that your master cylinder is bad......pinching off your brake lines is not a way to test the master cylinder. It sounds like you are getting taken for a ride. Take it to a Nissan dealer.

EDIT: oops, I didn't read what you wanted very carefully. Oh well. I don't know of many guys who have run these wheels on a 5th gen, off the top of my head.

I have them in 17x8 for track/autocross use. Here's a pic.

It seems like most people are buying OEM replacements and using a 3M protectant. Still, that doesn't neccessarily solve the problem.

You can go to Autozone or Advanced or any other autoparts dealer and buy aftermarket fogs for around $40-50 a set and fit them in place of the OEM's if you're handy. As far as the wiring goes, I just cut the wires after the OEM plug (on the foglight side of the plug- you'll see if you do it) and spliced in there so I can re-use the plug if I want to. It's actually really, really simple to do: just a little creativity when it comes to mounting them. i re-used the holes in the bumper to mount the fogs using the brackets that came with the new fogs. As far as fitment goes: stick to 3-4" diameter replacements and you'll be good. See sig for pic or go to my cardomain page if it's still up.

FYI: OEM fogs are around $100 a side. The way I see it, I can replace them 5 times with aftermarket and still be money ahead. I'm on my second set of aftermarket fogs. Seems that something breaks them once a year so I'm due now.

Long story short: unless you got $7,500 or so to spend, go with other power adders before turbo-charging.

how are you gonna install these on your headlights??
they are installed on HIDs because there are circles in the headlights. yours doesnt have them so there is nowhere to mount them.

So this setup will work as long as i want to stick w/ halogen fogs right? If i want to go to hid fogs i gotta go w/ a hid fog kit in a group deal?

Oh also, is there any way to change the back windows so that they roll all the way down?

Ok another noob question. I want to use a VR404 amp for the speakers. Anyone know how well it will fit under the passenger seat, if it will fit at all? I want to stay away from mounting it on the back of the back seat if possible.

i have a 2002 maxima se 6MT with about 86,000 miles. im driving on the road the other day and out of no where my car yanks to the right. scaring the hell out of me so i was more precatiouse and held the wheel tighter in case it happend again. then it would yank but not as hard sometimes so i took it to sts and made them take a look at my car. they said evrything was fine they couldnt find the problem so they told me they test drove it . and it did the same thing to them yank really hard to the right the guy thaught he was gonna hit the car on the side of him so they told me to leave the car over nite so they could continue testing. to figure wat the problem is so today the guy test drove it again twice and it didnt happend to him once. they ran in on the computer check abs and other stuff evrything is perfect so they came to a conclusion that it must have been ice that was frozen by the wheel. so i get my car back and i hope on the highway get up to like 80 mph for like 20 min im like hmmm it must have been ice. i hope off the highway and get on the streets and then it happend all of sudden i felt a tiny jerk. i was like ohhhh noooo so i was driving and i notice that when i let my foot off the gas and went to hit the gas. it would yank to the right by itself also noticed that it would only usuallly happend in between 2000-3000 rmp and only 1st thru 4th gear. evrytime i let off the gas then steped on it. it would yank i dont feel safe driving my car cause i could easily get into a accident. also few hours later im at a light and its in neutral so i decide to rev and i hear a noise. i turn my radio down and then i rev it again i hear like a grinding noise from rite in the middle of the car idk whats going. if some would could help me out that would be greatly apreciated thank you.

And THAT was the longest sentence ever.

Does it feel like a really, really quick jerk to one side like one brake suddenly grabbed and the let off in 1/10th of a second? If so, check your ABS lines to make sure they're not rubbing. Other than that, maybe a tie-rod end or something else simular. The best thing to do is get it up on jack stands and start tuggin on the tire (MUST be on jackstands, not a normal jack or you might kill yourself!). If you can yank the tire around, check the suspension components. If it seems pretty solid pull off the wheel that's tugging and inspect the ABS lines. And, lastly but most importantly the bottom of the keyboard has a row of keys situated between the shift keys that look like this: (zxcvbnm,./) Please make sure that the second to the last key that looks like a dot still works because it's darn near impossible to read your post without that key working.
