Question about SES light

i have a 02 SE 6spd and i had my ses light came on yesterday while driving. I dont beat on the car at all and i always use 93 octane gas. I got the code looked up this morning and it was a P1147. I know that it is a O2 code but im not sure what steps i should take. I do know that i have to reprogram the ECU from the dealer. I was wondering if that is covered with the Emissions Warrenty. I did a search and ive read a few posts about this but i have not gotten a diffinitive answer as to what to do. As of now, the code has been cleared and btw this is the 2nd time this ses light as come on and it is the same code. The car has about 73k miles on it. Thanks.

you just need the change the O2 sensor
i changed mine and never "reprogrammed" the ECU. i just went to advance auto and they reset the code. no problems.

thanks soonerfan. i thought it was the white one because i remember reading about it. thanks for confirming it. so no reprogramming needed, which saves me money i guess. it also says for the TSB, that since p1147 came on, that both rear o2s have to be replaced, true? or just that one with the white plug. also how much from DaveB as a guess. thanks.

soonerfan you live in springfield,va? maybe we should meet up sometime.

Odd CEL

I have an ae up north in canada. Having learned to drive manual on this car when I first got it, I figured my ecu mappings were off, resulting in low mileage. As a result I wanted to reset my ECU. I wasnt sure whether the 3 second throttle reset would work since this is 5th gen, but figured it couldnt do any damage. However, since trying it yesterday, my CEL hasnt turned off. Is there any possiblity that I damaged my TB from the procedure? Are there any places in Canada where I could either borrow an OBD scanner for less than the $100 everyone seems to quote me for a scan? Anything you guys can recommend?

2k ECU/OBD11 scanner prot issue

Hello there,

I have 2000 max with a strang issue. I bought a nice OBD11 scanner and I an unable to connect it with the ECU in my car. I have tested the scanner on other cars and I am able to link with them. I took the car to several shops and no one has been able to fix the issue. I just replaced coils, full exhaust ( Cattman with headers), plugs, PCV, Struts, shocks, springs, drive shafts, intake, and brakes. Before I did all of this work, the SES light was on and the scanner would not connect. After the work was done, the light has gone away but I still can not hook up to the scanner port. Also, I have traced all of the wires going from the scanner port to the ECU and other sensors and found nothing. Would it possible to get a hand. Thanks, Brian

some issues with the 5.5

ok something with my 5.5 doesnt seem right. ive had the ses light come on and it was cleared and the code was P1147 as stated above. Soonerfan told me that i need a new o2. Now the ses light has been cleared and is not on but once the car warms up all the way, the rpms sit at about 500-600. is that normal? also there is a slight hesitation when idling. it seems like a really minor misfire or is that just normal? im the 2nd owner and so far its been treated very nicely. 93 octance from Shell, not beating on, and it hasnt even seen redline in my hands. as far as the hesitation goes, could it be related to the P1147 code even though it has been cleared? it doesnt hesitate through the rpms but only at idle. So i dont know if im parinoid or what but i just want to make sure that the 5.5 lasts for a long time. ohh btw, it has 72.5k on it. I dont know if the plugs have been changed or not. Im not at all familier with the 5.5 motor so how much would it cost to do plugs on this car? i know the intake manifold has to be removed and im not trying to get too involved in that.

nk2k2,

I had this same issue that was solved by replacing the coil packs. You can get the coils from NAPA autoparts for a good deal. I paid about $375 for all 6 coils

see i want to make sure they are the coil packs before i swipe my card. i want to identify it before any purchases. i have a feeling it has to do something with the spark plugs or o2 sensor. im sure replacing the coils would go hand in hand with the plugs.

why would you want to? There should be wiring already installed for factory fog lights, even if the lights aren't there.....

what if we have aftermarket fogs..we can still tap into the fog light harness for the stock ones and it will work? (splicing)??

If you know it isn't a car question then don't ask it in here. This isn't the general thread forum. Also read the Feedback/Suggestion forum, you might find your answer there.

well, i know the wiring is there, but two things.1) I don't have the switch. 2) I dont have fog relay. I have a current setup where the fog goes into the battery and theres a 3rd party swtich that i installed in my dash, but i'm lazy and just wants to splice the fogs with the headlamp so they come on when the lights are on just wondering if thats safe.

if you had read all of the rules when you registered, you would know that you have to have 15 posts to start a new thread or use PM.

use those posts wisely or things will get ugly fast

as for the AC blower motor fix, what is involved in dropping the motor to clean it out? i have seen the TSB and my cover gets to nissan in the morning, but i wanted to know how to drop the actual motor to clean it out.

6 screws, move the airbag wires, disconnect light, and pull right?

I think i read somewhere that it's just 3 screws to drop the motor right? I did a google search and read everything i could there. anyone wanna clarify? tia

LCD in ventilator Assembly

I was wondering if anyone has installed a touch screen LCD flush mount where the vents are in 5th gen dash. I'm thinking of getting one of those assemblies and attempting it, but I'm not sure what screen to use. The working dimensions i measured were about 200mm x 100mm. Thats cutting it close with most 7" LCDs it seems. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures of this installed or suggestions as to a LCD Touchscreen that has a height under 100mm. I'm having trouble finding accurate dimensions.
