Maxima with some "wierd" issues

Hi I've got a 2001 maxima GLE that has a few issues please if you can answer these help me and my lack of funds to take it into a shop.
1. Rapid turn signal blinker ( the turn signal blinks very quickly compared to any car) (no there isn't a bulb out!)
2. The sunroof ceased working last summer tested the switch with an om meter and the switch works fine the car only has 87K on it and i have a hard time believing the sunroof motor is the issue. Is there a fuse in the engine compartment for this?
3. The front brakes seem to make a re-occuring noise/wierd feeling in pedal brought into dealership and was told the brakes and pad's are in good shape.

I thank anyone who can guide me into the right direction on fixing any of the above mentioned issues, I bought my maxima becauase so many people sold me on how solid of a car it is and now with less than 100K it seems to be throwing quite the curve ball. Maybe I should have stuck with Honda.

www.pinnaclenissan.com. If you find a good price, take it into your local Nissan dealer and see if they can match it.

I wouldn't go to eBay for it.

question.

I am thinking about getting some subtle lights to mount under the front dash to illuminate the floorboards on each side. I went and looked tonight, and noticed that nearly all came designed to use with the cig-lighter power slot. I however, don't want to plug it in there. I'd ideally like to hardwire it in behind the cig lighter.

Is doing this as easy as chopping the cig adapter off, stripping those wires, and then tapping them into the right cig wires behind the actual plug? anyone know which color goes with which color?

any help would rock.

how would I go about blacking out my window trim? Is it painted or is there a tape for it? Think it would look alright on a sheer silver max?

there is a tape made by the company TrimBrite. Product T-9005. I used it and can't imagine why i didn't do it sooner. Makes the car tons slicker imo. ordered mine through CarQuest.

check out the how-to section post 23. But i'm suuuure you looked there already.

I posted this on another thread the other day and i figured i'd repost it here since this thread probably gets more attention than the other. Sorry if its a noob thing to do...

Ive been searching for a specific thread and i cant find what im looking for. I am planning on replacing my Bose HU with an aftermarket one. When I do this install, what is the correct term for the replacement dash piece that you would install in place of the old piece (i.e. the stock HU is a certain size, the new cd player will be smaller than what was taken out, so wouldn't i need a replacement piece for this area). Also, is there anything out there better, or more appealing, than the run of the mill wal-mart/circuit city/whatever replacement piece.

I have seen some people make their own, but they also did their whole dash the same way. If that is the way to go...what do ya'll think? I see a ton of posts about replacing the HU, but i have yet to see anything about this.

Any help please?

Teaner, i can ask my roommate when i get home about the spoiler thing. He used to work in the parts dept at the local nissan dealership, and he just transfered over to mercedes. We were talking about putting one on my '03 Max a couple of days ago.

Do you already have the part lined up, or would you for me to try to price it too?

talked to the roomie, he said that since it is the same body style it should work, but BE SURE that you have a template for it because drilling the holes will be a pain, and if you dont have a template then it will not look right when you get it on. So make sure you know how to assemble it before hand! I'd also get some reassurance on here if you have the time to do so. He tends to know his nissan parts though since he has been working with them for a few years now. Best of luck to ya.

Okay, so about the post from earlier about installing an aftermarket HU, the terminology i was thinking of here is about the "dash kits." Does anyone have any good info on where to get dash kits that are good quality and look good (not off color-plastic that stands out like a sore thumb)?

Ive seen metraonline.com and installer.com so far.

Ive seen metraonline.com and installer.com so far.

I would recommend the American International dash kit. I could only find them at HiFi Buy stores. Just because the metra and scoche are just cheap and flimsy feeling

The only thing is that it's black, so what I did was paint it to match the interior color. If you need help finding the AI dash kit let me know and I can pick one up for you and ship it over.

Why not take the whole trunk lid off the 03 - if it's available that is?

b/c the spoiler is coming from a 2000. for starters does a 2000 trunk fit a 2003? not sure if they are even the same and it seems to me it would be more work to install, paint etc. a trunk lid vs.'s just a spoiler.

wheel TRIP control

When i bought my car the BOSE HU was taking out and they put a dash kit in it with a sony xplod.. when i first got the car a couple months ago i started playing wit and realized that the TRIP control didn't work ;( along with the bose hu controls ( of course ) is this 'supposed' to happen since the hu was taking out? or do those wires run somewhat dependently?

2000-2003 should be interchangeable as far as trunk/spoiler goes.

Does anyone know about any of the 6th gen spoilers http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41lblEOpPiL._AA280_.jpg

fitting a 5.5th gen (2002)?

Has anyone done it?? I'm not too sure what it'd look like but thought I'd inquire

Yes the spoiler is the same, as well as the trunk lid. An '03 SE trunk lid is the same from 04/99 to 12/03. The spoiler you are looking at will fit for sure, quit worrying about it!

Few questions:

On my airbox snorkel, there's a hole in the right side. Is that normal and should it be plugged?

On startup, an ABS light shows (along with all the other lights). Does that mean the car came with ABS? I've driven on ice and hit the brakes and it doesn't feel as though it works.

I'm getting a squeak every time I put in the clutch. The last few inches of travel kinda rattle. It's apparent inside the car and much more apparent when outside. It's coming from inside of the bell housing, and I believe it's the ball and socket that holds the fork thing in the clutch. I tried lubing everything up with WD40 with no luck, and I fear I'll have to take the car in to get this fixed. It'll cost an arm and a leg so while it's open I was thinking about replacing the clutch and throughout bearing. What will this cost, ballpark?

Another problem, my right front tire keeps deflating to 29psi. I pump it up and it returns to 29 every time. Looks a little low when you look at it. Any idea what this is? Bad sealing or some type of puncture (nail)?

And finally, there's a rattle in my dash that bothers the crap out of me. It seems to mostly go away when I put pressure on the hazard light. Any idea what this is and how to fix it?

The steering wheel controls don't work with a aftermarket HU, unless you buy an adapter of some sort. I found one locally, just haven't bought it yet, they can also be found on eBay. The TRIP button can be gotten to work without that adapter, what you need to do is take the HU out, and somewhere back there, is a small connector, 3 or 4 wires IIRC, and there was a brown wire there that needed to be grounded to get the TRIP button working. For the other buttons to work, as far as I know, you need to buy that adapter. Good luck!
