I got a o2 sensor code (for both of them) but it so happens that my o2 sensors are broken, but would my air intake have anything to do with this? the part that's broken is the little bridge from the actual filter box to the scoop that connects to the hood, it looks like I have to buy another one so I may just get an aftermarket one anyways depending on how much a replacement would run me.

.

*Edit* two more, I am a semi-noob with manual but sometimes (like maybe once or twice a day) when I start from a complete stop I hear a jingling noise coming from under the car, is it my noobness and I'm f'n up the clutch? or is it something else?
The air scoop is not necessary, you can remove it. Also, if you hop on the intake bandwagon you will be removing all of the intake crap.

The manual transmission issue sounds like a heat shield to me but its hard to say definitively. Also, with the movement you could have a broken/worn mount somewhere

you are "supposed" to use premium gas, but our cars will detect a lower grade gas and back down the timing to eliminate spark nock so i'm not sure if the gas your running is your problem.... I would recommend using higher grade fuel however

another n00bie here, had some questions:
1. When I bought my car (3 weeks ago) I noticed that the sunroof sliding switch doesn't work and when I use the push button to open it, it moves about 2 inches and stops and you have to press it again and again to get it all the way open (or shut). any ideas on whats wrong and how to fix it?

2. I'm looking to update my headlights and tail lights and was wondering if projector headlight housing was a good idea or tacky. Also, what is the thought on either altezza or LED tails? any info/opinions would be much appreciated. Thanks

^^^to answer question number 2..........The stock 2k2-2k3 HID's are the best bang for the buck........But if your talking about doing projectors, A projector retrofit is the best way to go. The ones you see on EBAY, ARE CRAPPY PROJECTORS, and are not worth the cash unless you are gonna do a projector retrofit

Info on projector retrofits can be found at www.HID-Planet.com and

www.customlightz.com (they do custom projector retrofits for out cars, pretty good work IMHO, other members here on the .org do them for cheaper as well)

Now as far as the tails, check outmy car domain page, some of the members here dont like my tails, BUT HELL......i do, thats all that matters. Also In my opinion, the LED tails available for our cars DONT look right, i Guess the LED's are too small in the tail lights for my appeal.

Now for your other question, im not sure...as i have an 01, although i remember reading about that somewhere, TRY A SEARCH....i tried to search for you but had no luck

Thanks a lot Trurida18, I tried a search on the sunroof thing and got nada. push comes to shove, i'll take it to the shop across the road... lol. Another question about headlights: the clear plastic lenses covering the entire headlight is completely scratched and a bit yellowed, how would one go about fixing this?
thanks in advance...

there is a reset procedure.

I just slide my opener all the way back, all the way forward and then to position 1, 2, 3, 4. Then forward and it seems to work. It only screwed up unce so I am unsure of actual procedure. I think it is weird that pressing the pop up button will allow you to then get the slider feature in 2 inch movements. I would keep the stock HID's.

from the owners manual

Restarting the sunroof sliding switch
The sliding switch will become inoperable after
the battery terminal is disconnected, the electrical
supply interrupted and/or some abnormality
detected. Use the following re-set procedure
to return sunroof operation to normal.
1. If the sunroof lid is open, push the tilting
switch repeatedly toward tilt DOWN to fully
close the lid.
2. After the lid has closed all the way, keep
pushing the tilting switch toward tilt DOWN
for more than 1 second.

neither would be an UPGRADE. take our word for it, and leave everything alone.

No problem bro, glad to be of a little help. Now as far as the yellowish or pitted headlights. Check out this thead, there is a write up on a guy who cleaned his headlights...Its just a little something, as i believe there is a more detailed write up...You may only need a real fine grain of sand paper, depending on how severe your issue is...

There are a ton of brake threads. The stock calipers are fine. Most people choose Brembo blanks with Hawk HPS pads. Some beilieve stock rotors with autozone pads are fine. There are group deals on all of this in the group deal forum/thread. Also, many polls on brakes. Just look around unless you need these by this afternoon

Hi, I just bought a 2000 GLE (with 52k), officially today actually. It has the Bose audio and I was wondering if it would be possible to add the steering wheel audio controls? I know the 2000's didn't come with it and I think the 01's did?

i got powerslot slotted rotors. Check out www.autopartswarehouse.com, for those slotted rotors, ALSO CHECK out www.buybrakes.com

I believe powerslot rotors are slotted by powerslot and are treated Brembo's...My powerslots read brembo on the edges

also check out www.importrp.com for other brake related parts...

be careful of autopartswarehouse.com THEY WILL SCREW YOUR ORDER UP, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRIBLE. However, JUST KNOW WHAT YOU WANT, and check, and DOUBLE check that the rep GETS YOUR ORDER RIGHT....YOU COULD order online from autopartswarehouse.com, But i just dont trust their Network encryption in terms of encrytping credit card info. They use OLD SSL CERTIFICATES.

HELLA ???s... Please help me....
1. Im planning on sending my headlights off my 02 to Mr. Housecor for some DDE love... Is there anyone else out there who might do just as well or better of a job or for less. Nothing against him, jus checkin around before I send him the good news.

2. I have a very slight vibration in the accelerator pedal. It comes and goes rather quickly at some points, was wondering if that was wheel bearings from the front axle or jus my imagination?

3. Is it mandatory for us to put a camber kit on our front end when doin a drop kit? Mine is the Illum/Tein setup.

4. How do you post pics in this place?

well for posting pics, you HAVE TO USE an outside hosting website. such as imageshack, photobucket, tinypic.

The admins here disable allowing attatchments such as photos, probably because they dont have the storage capacity for it, and the fact that it uses a helluva lot of bandwidth...So use outside hosting companies

Ur the ISH Mike.. As for the vibration, its from probably 35mph on up, doesnt have to be turning, just riding straight down the road. I jus had the rear left wheel bearing replaced (thank God for warranties). Im jus not sure if the fronts are on their way out also. The car will drop about 2.2 inches in the front.. I have the Ingalls camber bolt for it. Do u think that will suffice?

Would mounts wear off in this car by 150k?

Haha yah the maxima isn't getting that much work done to it, I haven't called DaveB just yet but the maxima is not going to be some performance beast, it's fast enough for my needs so I'm not really looking for that much in HP gains, maybe a less wimpy sound but not really looking for more speed.

sure...get slotted if you want reduced pad lift, more noise when braking, and no improvement in performance.

I will say this one time, and one time only: slotted and/or drilled rotors are ONLY for looks and will give NO improvement in performance on a street car. If anyone tells you otherwise, they are wrong. It's that simple.

1. your vibration problem could be anything, but most likely are either an wheel that needs to be rebalanced or you have a worn tie rod end or balljoint. Rebalance the wheels first and then go from there.

2. 2.2 inches of drop is a terrible idea. You will FUBAR your LCA angles, induce excessive bump steer, and just generally make the car handle like garbage on any kind of bumpy road.

3. camber bolts are a terrible idea for a street-driven car, as they have a tendancy to "adjust themselves" often, especially if you hit a pothole or road bump at higher speeds. If you use camber bolts, you will need to check them often (weekly) to make sure they're still adjusted properly, and if they shift or rotate, you'll need to be constantly getting alignments.

You best bet is to go with a moderate drop in the 1.0-1.5" range and then you will not need to adjust camber.

brake pads worn to wear indicator?
dust shield scraping back of rotor?
spring clips not installed correctly?

check those things first, then get back to us.

They're the stock '02-'03 Max headlights. Check out some of the other rides that are on here, they paint the housing black and it looks even better.
