go to www.car-parts.com and try to find one there before you head to the stealership. I found one that was practically brand new for $60. The dealershipe wanted $385.

Oh, and Irish said it might be your IACV: It's not. I thought that myself and the cleaning had no effect at all.

Just get in contact with Dave B on here and get a brand new maf from him for like what 100 bucks. The IACV does control your idle i believe and when it gets broken or damaged then the car wont idle

I have an '01 GLE that I just bought. The rear corner on the passenger side of the sunroof leaks in the car wash. It hasn't rained yet so I don't know if it will then. All of the water was caught and ran down the drainage tubes but I'd like to get it fixed. After I left the wash I could actually see light peeking through. I checked the top of the sunroof and I couldn't see any cracks in the weatherstripping or anything but it looked like it wasn't 100% flush with the roof. I found a thread that mentioned replacing the rails in an older maxima, but am not sure exactly what I'm looking for or if something would just need adjusting or what. Anyone else have this problem at some point? Thanks.

Thanks. It is aftermarket. I was wondering if I should take it out and make sure everything is connected right. I'll do that.

I tried to change the lower control arm (driver side) on my 2000 maxima. I have all the nuts loosened but I stripped the ball joint nut. The nut isn’t supposed to be taken off, only loosened, so I don’t want to cut it, but now I’m not sure how to turn it to put the new control arm on. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks

Um, I'd probably stick with OEM O2 sensors, but someone may know more about that than I do.

The loss of gas MPG is most likely attributed to the bad O2 sensors you are trying to replace.

The "stumble" around 70, may mean that your MAF if going bad, what year do you have? 2002's are notorious for going bad. If it gets really bad, the engine wont rev past 2.5k, so I'd get a new one. Don't spend $400 like the dealer will charge you, buy an 01 MAF ($100), and transfer the thermister off your old one into the 01 MAF. There are write-ups on this, search for "MAF replacement" or something like that

I got something that's driving me nuts, about 70% of the ime my windows only roll down ~3 inches. The other 30% they go all the way down. This happens with multiple remotes, etc...I've looked through the manual and searched here and never seen a mention of any setting that would cause this. My Infiniti doesn't do this and I want my Max's windows to go all the way down every time. *Note* I AM holding the button down the whole time, the windows stop at exactly the same place every time.

I'm at a lost of what to do now

I've tried the FAQ, TSB, and the Search function and couldnt find what i was looking for. My Nissan Maxima 2001 has a problem that I've been trying to fix forever now.

When driving the car, sometimes it just stops accelerating, it won't change gears at all. When you hit the gas it just shoots the RPM's to the roof. Sometimes turning off the car and turning it back on fixs the problem right away, and sometimes it does not. If let to set for a day or so it always has worked when started up again. It tends to happen most often at lower speeds when there is a lot of stop and go traffic. The car won't accelerate at all, it just falls to an idle speed and the RPM's go up whenever the gas is touched. We had a check engine light for an 02 sensor that was fixed, and a engine light for a speed sensor. The electrician we took it to told me he couldnt fix the speed sensor proplem, and then he cleared the code. I've been to a transmission place who told me it was not my transmission. I've taken it in to at least 4 other places, who can't recreate the problem with the car so they say they are unable to fix it. A few mechanics my wife works with thought it might be a computer problem.

Any Guidance you guys could give me would be MUCH appreciated. I'm at my wits end here with this problem. Thanks again.

holes in my front bumper

Hey i was wondering if you can somehow fill those hideous holes in your front bumper, where they are for you to mount your license plate. I live in PA where a front license plate is not required. Thanks in advance.

so if the ring is pulled up all the time, can you go into other gears or only reverse, because it looks like it was glued I just realized this.

Hi, I am the posterboy for Maxima n00bness.

Hi, I just got a '01 Maxima and I want to know what has been done to it and I have a TON of questions too as to little things I'm unsure about the car.

-Are those 17s what originally came with the car?
-What is the official color of my car?
-I don't know if it's the base of SE model (I have cloth seats and the bose speakers if that helps)
-Did this car come with Clear side markers? or yellow ones? I have a both, One yellow and one clear.
-Are the blacked tails stock? i've seen them on some maximas but not all? what's the difference between the red ones and black trimed ones? Years? Models?

-Are those pedals stock? I've seen that dash in other maximas so I guess that's stock.
-When driving the car if let up on the accelerator the shift **** kinda moves forward a little, and when I give it gas if goes back a little, is this normal?

Not pictured:
-My broken Air Intake
I got a o2 sensor code (for both of them) but it so happens that my o2 sensors are broken, but would my air intake have anything to do with this? the part that's broken is the little bridge from the actual filter box to the scoop that connects to the hood, it looks like I have to buy another one so I may just get an aftermarket one anyways depending on how much a replacement would run me.

Anywho this forum seems like a great place. I hope I didn't ask waayyy too much, but thanks in advance.

*Edit* two more, I am a semi-noob with manual but sometimes (like maybe once or twice a day) when I start from a complete stop I hear a jingling noise coming from under the car, is it my noobness and I'm f'n up the clutch? or is it something else?

Is that wind-shield for the sunroof stock also? again i've seen it on some maxima's but not all.

-17's are original.
-how to find your paint code: http://www.courtesyparts.com/paint/touchup_howto.html
http://www.courtesyparts.com/paint/maxima.html
-clear corners are not stock equipment
-blacked tails are stock for SE models, '00-01; all red ones are on '00-'01 GXE & GLE; '02-'03 have the stupid "altezzas"
-pedals are not stock (i don't believe)
-dash kit where aftermarket headunit it is not stock.
-go to autozone and get the code pulled; consult the sticky labeled for codes: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=374481
call DaveB for parts: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....38#post1921238

Mine does this as well based on how far I am from the car it seems. I will get a 7" roll down and it stops. If I repress my remote they roll down all the way...???

If I am at the car it has not happened. I am assuming its a signal loss from the remote, but it may be common.
