The 2000 Maxima has a fairly common problem with blown right front struts, if you're still stock. This could cause both of your problems - the clunk and teh vibration (cupping).Originally Posted by Fox_90
Just a couple of quick ones, in the rear clunking at lower speeds sounds like the strut towers, wondering if this is a common problem. Secondly I have a vibration between 90-120km and the tires have been checked mulitple times, C.P.R on the brakes all around and all is well? Any ideas? Again could this come back to the struts? Lastly how do I get the privledges to participate in the regular forum? Thanks to all that answer

My question is, do the rotors really need to be machined, or is he just trying to get more money? My car has 76k miles on it, but I've only had it since 61k and I've only been moderately hard on the brakes in that time. There is a pulsing sometimes on longer stops from speeds of about 55+ mph, but a few ppl on here have said it might be a buildup of pad material. If all I need to do is change the pads, then I'd rather do it myself. But should I also get the rotors machined like this guy says?
105 sounds about right for 1 hour shop labor and turning the rotors. Turning (cutting) the rotors will get rid of uneven pad buildup left from stock pads. It's a good idea.Originally Posted by oldmanshirt

It's best to change the seals. i didn't, and have a very (VERY) slow leak from one now. I check the fluid once a month and it's still at the top after a few months, but in retrospect it would have been a good idea to do the seals at thesame time. They're cheap and easy to replace.Originally Posted by Daniel514bama

My lighter doesn't work. Would it be too hard to fix?? I was wondering if there was a fuse behind the jack, or is there only one in the lighter itself?

Most likely the fuse located in the fuse panel.Originally Posted by ICEMAN76

I have a 2000 Maxima GLE. Filled up the tank right before hitting the highway. Then I reset the trip odometer. Put 111 miles (all highway) roundtrip. After getting back off the highway, filled up again and checked mileage. The tank took 2.966 gallons. It worked out to 37mpg. This seems a little high to me. I thought the estimated highway mpg was about 27-28? Any thoughts?

Just curious... Will the '01-03 Electronic climate control fit and work in a 2000 maxima SE replacing the original manual AC controls? Saw one for sale and wouldnt mind having it installed.

The question comes as to how you know that is the quantity of gasoline you used. If you are using the reading off the pump, then that is likely where the error comes. Not that the pump reads the incorrect amount, but if you are gauging the tank being full based upon when the pump shuts off, then that is where the "error" is occurring. No two pumps shut off at the same point, and the shut off point can vary wildly. The only way to get a good handle on fuel economy is averaging over time. In other words, take a bunch of MPG readings and then look at the trend. And even then, you'll see your fuel economy change with the seasons.....

if you're willing to spend enough time and money, anything can be done. To install the electronic climate control, you will need more than the dash unit. You need teh computer controller, several different sensors, and alot of new wiring. In theory, it can be done. But I don't recall that anyone has successfully done the conversion successfullyOriginally Posted by YungmaxiOwna21

I have a 20th Anniversary, 2001 Maxima. Keep in mind my plugs and coils are good, what else can cause it to missfire. I am thinking maybe the cat, or maybe the Mass air flow sensor. What other things can I check. Keep in mind it doesn't always missfire, just hear and there.
Does anyone have/ has anyone seen the LED tail lights from customenterprise.com on a car?
Im trying to get a feel for what they'd look like on my Max...

catback, there is only one on the market anymore that's worthwhile: Cattman.

shouldn't you have asked about the ride BEFORE you ordered them? the tires are teh correct size, but I don't know much about General tires. Those wheels look heavy as crap, which means ride quality will probably be poor compared to a light wheel.Originally Posted by G&S Maxima

7.5" is the width of the rim. Wider than stock (7"), but most people who go with 18's prefer a 8" or 8.5" wide rim so you can go with a wider tire.

they wont fit in 02-03. those fog lights on ebay will not even fit the actual vehicle because to fit those in 00-01 you'll need to do rewiring. if you search for 02-03 fogs they will also need rewiring.Originally Posted by 1PhatMax

Just the other day, I changed my rims & tires for winter ones. I had to put 2 tires in the trunk and 2 in back of the front seats. (in the leg space area in the backseat). The problem is that I left the auto adjust feature on. So when you open the door, the seat moves back, the seat moves to the original position when the door is closed. Since the tire was behind it, the seat didn't really move back because there was no space. Ever since then, the seat won't go back anymore when the door opens. There was a point where it moved just a tiny bit but it never got better. The memory seats still work if I press the buttons on the door panel. But I couldn't find anything in the forums that had a trick to reset it or something like that. It's not a major problem, but it sure is annoying. I have long legs and kinda got spoiled by that feature to get in/out of the car. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
