245/50/17?? too big? input please.

will a 245/50/17 tire fit on a 2000 maxima?

I am lowered on progress springs.

The wheels are 17x7.5 30mm offset (front) and 17x8 33mm offset (rear).

Any opnions would be appreciated!

p.s. I know it's a wide tire.. and is a little bigger than stock, but the price is SO right ($1300 msrp for $250.)

if you wanna look like dune buggy, then it's a nice wheel size.

I'm lowered with progress springs also, I got G35 18 inch and mines rub in the rear(245/45/18) so basically i dont know for sure. Can you try them before you Buy? just to be on the safe side. since yours are bigger they might rub in my opinion..

I believe the max size you can put on Max's without having rubbing issues are 235/40/18,19,20? Correct me if I'm wrong. TireRack said 235/40/18 are the best choice.

why would you want to put a wide tire on for a winter combo? putting a 225 on there would fit just fine and get you better traction in winter conditions...

245 wide tire on a 7.5 wheel? that's a nono. 8.5 width is what it needs.

by the wheel sizes, can I assume you are using the G35 coupe 17's?

I use those for the winter and have 225/50/17

245/45/17 is what i run on my 17" 5zigen corpse. Gives it an aggresive stance. Hardly rubs at all, only on really tight turns. I have even seen 245 on a 6.5" wheel before. A 245 size tire will fit.

well i hope they don't rub, i just bought the tires..

i am putting on a 245 tire, and not a thinner one because i'm getting a good deal on them...

damn.. you rub on a 45 profile tire? mine is 50...

what offset are those 5zigen rims?

i'm not too worried about the tires fitting on the rims, more the tires clearing the fenders...

tires too wide for winter...you should've gone for skinny snow tires on steel wheels & save the G35 rims. Living in T.O, you should know that the best all-season is worse than the worst snow tire .

you are definitely going to have rubbing problems. My winter wheels are the G35 17's as well and in the back I ran 235/50/17 and DEFINITELY rubbed in the back significantly, and that was on maxspeeds, which sit ALOT higher than Progress springs.

I hope for your sake that they work, but I'm pretty sure you will have some serious rubbing in the back...and possibly the fronts too.

it's not the width, it's the aspect ratio of the sidewall that will cause problems with a 245/50, especially on low Progress springs with a low offset wheel. He will rub. Period.

You guys need to stop giving bad advice to n00bs.

When I first got my G35 18s I had 245/45/18 on the rears and they rubbed once in a while on stock springs. I went to 245/40/18s problem solved, even with being dropped 1.8 F/R. Only time I rub now is if I have a full car...

Excuse the grammar fail, Im too lazy to fix it.

245-40's on G35 18's with Eibach's caused rubbing on my rear passenger side even with the lip rolled somewhat. Rubbing was not bad as the tire was never gouged but it was quite annoying.

why would you think 245/50/17 is the correct size when the Oem size was 225/50/17? If you're gonna go to 245mm width you'll be decreased down to 40 series sidewalls....So 245/40/17 is the proper +2 step up!!!!

245-40-18's on +30mm offsets will work, just expect some rubbing at times if you have springs.

Here's my 2k2 with G35 +30mm rims, Eibach pro-kit springs, and 245-40's:

I'm running 245/40/18 on my 03, but 245/40/17 is actually the proper plus 2 upgrade that will not affect speedometer @ all.....245/40/18 is close but slightly...I have no rubbing and I'm setup with Progress springs/Illuminas struts....

What offset? That's surely not 30mm. That's more around 40-45mm it seems.

Yeah, 43mm would be fine. I had 40mm with 245's and they were fine as well. I didn't have rubbing problems until I went to the 30mm G wheels. They looked great flush but it was annoying when they scrubbed.

Roll your fenders and trim that flange where the rear fascia bolts on in both rear wheel wells

It was rolled and still rubbed. If you notice, the wheel face is almost flush with the outside of the fender. As the wheel travels up into the wheel it will eventually hit the fender lip where the tread stops and sidewall starts. Illuminas set to 5 did not stop it. 235's would have probably been OK or far better.

It only rubbed on the passenger side. It rarely did it when I didn't have my sub in the trunk and occasionally did with it (appx 60lbs over the axle). Put passengers in the rear and it rubbed with every medium bump.

Again, it was a rub that did not tear up the tire and barely left a mark (after rolling the fender). It just sounded bad for the most part.

G35 coupe 18's are 8" wide all around. Perhaps you have sedan wheels?
