Yes the e46 are a good budget option but in reality if you are going to the work of baking/fabing up why not just get the tsx or s2000. I guess I am one to go for the best if I am goind to do something. Also, another good budget option is murano projectors.

TSX I would understand but the going rate for s2000's are close to $400 sometimes. On top of that, S2000's take a lot of cutting just to take off the highbeam portion. But I do agree, if you are going to do a retro and spend all that time, might as well go with the TSX.

Hold up, I was told the 02/03 headlights won't fit the 00/01 models because they are slightly shaped differently. So you're saying that I can fit those in my 00 Max? More info please.

Whoever told you that is wrong. A lot of people have done it. All you need is to do the wiring and buy the headlights.

What wiring has to be done and do you have an estimate as to how much it would cost to get wired? Ok and to get the record straight these will fit my '00 Max:

Those will fit. You will have to wire the ballast (the amplifier for the bulbs) into the stock wiring that powers the stock h4 bulbs. Here is a 2k/2k1 (Huso's max) with the 2k2/2k3 headlights.

Buy it from Ebay, but there are other places like Custom Enterprise that will sell them for a higher price.

$299!?! Sorry, but that's a rip off. You can get them on ebay for as low as $200.

Thanks 808MAX-SPEC. I thought the Slickcar.com projectors were the same as the ebay projectors. Thanks for verifying it.

Just by looking at the pics they should be the same. ebay lists these projectors with better pics and product description for less $$$.

I have a 2001 Infiniti I30 - Stock without HIDs.

What is the difference between HID Projectors vs. a Halogen Projector.
Many Newer car claim that they use halogen lights, and the the projector lens make it look as if it is a HID setup? am i right?

I've also read that HID Kits do not come with HID projectors and they only enable you to use an hid light bulb in your car. and u might have to buy the project seperatly.

Also, there was a write ups stating that all HID Kits are not worth the money because they dont work (effective) as well as some of the HIDs that come stock on the new Lexus cars. Any truth to that?

My question is: could i just purchase a halogen projector for my stock halogen lights, instead of using a HID Kit? Will my light output be effected. I want the HID look, but i dont want HID kit cons.

This is the Link that say Aftermarket HID kits are not worth the money:

http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...nversions.html

The 00' Infiniti I30 has a different headlight setup, so i cant use the 03 maximas or I30 Stock - Hid housing.

Im not sure if the I35s have HIDs and even if they do, i dont know how well they work with the I30s.

I just want my low beam to have the projector lens "look" without losing light quality. I would love it if i could get the "look" plus gain light quality!

Someone please shine some light on me....

Go to the I35 section and read the "NOOBIES thread", you'll see what I've typed on the eBay headlights. And search, as may I30 owners hae converted to HID headlights from the I35.

NICE LIGHTS man. I have an O3 Max. I was looking through that website. How long did it take to get that completed? Did you ship them the lights or you went to them and they did it on the spot. Im in Ny and i see they work out of Long Island on weekends so I'm trying to hit that up. And the big Question how much did all of that cost?

For a straight swap, not difficult at all. You just need to switch them out and set up all the wiring, the fit right in.

If you're talking about doing a retrofit like a lot of the guys in here have done, that's a whole different story.

I actually don't even mind this thread being bumped. I love reading about retrofits, the craftsmanship that goes into them and resulting light output fascinates me.

You should have PM'd him, supposing he's even still on the site, that was 4 years ago man WTF.

My .02 cause I wasted my time reading this, that looks foolish, light output is great but the headlights look like something off an 80's futuristic movie robot Beady eyed little bugger!

After looking a little more closely, I just saw that on this same page at the top someone posted details and a picture of installing 02/03 headlights in an 00/01.

Noobs these days...

I think projectors can be more flushly retrofitted on our cars. It's just a matter of being innovative.

Any projector that sticks out past the OE composite lens looks ridiculous IMO...

^That's what I'm saying

It would look good if it was flush. If that's possible.
