Home Depot grille mod

So I saved $64 and spent $5 instead to create the HD grille...i've seen one other person on here do it, but my friend and I did it uniquely that we know of...is there anyone else with the HD grille?

Also you should paint it black or even the color of your car.

Instead of the zip ties try 22 gauge wire. Just twist 2 pieces to the mesh and twist them together behind the grill. You can find the wire in the picture hanging section at Home Depot. It's a cleaner look than the zip ties.

I did the same thing but recessed them a little more. They're still in front of the grill but further in. Check out the pics since we have the same color car.

Just one more pick. You can't see the wires unless you're right on top of it.

Forgive my dirty car in this one.

One more thing. If you want to leave it silver you should paint it with some silver paint. The material will tarnish and look pretty bad over time if you leave it unprotected.

I used Rustoleum satin black spraypaint for metal outdoor furniture. It's pretty tuff paint that wont chip easily.

I didn't use zip ties at all. It's just wire that comes in a roll. Look in the section that has picture hanging hooks and wire. Use the 22 gauge. It comes packaged in a roll of 100 feet.

Derrick it looks nice, have you been to the track lately? I want to go but haven't had the time lately. Did you both use the gutter guard? Just checking

Last time I went was while I was still living in Jacksonville. The GTO club rented the 1/4 mile track in Gainesville and I got in on it.

There's a 1/8 mile near here but I haven't been yet.

How are those headers holding up? Did you ever get the dyno tuning?

It looks like we both used the gutter guard. I told you I'd get the headlights blacked out. Seeing yours got me motivated to just do it.

Headers are good. I did dyno tune and found that my max didn't get the ecu reflash (loss of power tsb). So I did that and I need to retune. I'm going to retune after I get the technosquare L-spec ecu. Next on the list is tein h-techs and some aftermarket shock that I haven't decided on yet. I'm a little tired of the wheel gap and beach-ball suspension. I noticed the headlights they look good. I don't think I'll ever been done doing stuff to my car it's a moneypit...

The stuff I use is called "premium hinged gutter guard" and is sold in packs of 5 for around $6.00. I've made several of these kits for people and one pack is plenty for the grill and lower section if you use it right.

Just for reference, here's what it looks like behind the lower grille...I think in front looks better, so maybe I'll change mine.
