Young, when the car is sitting on the ground the bumpstop should stay up there. Many people recommend not even trimming the bumpstops but i guess thats too late in ur case. Goodluck...and post some pictures!!!!

are they the fronts foam or rubber? the foam ones stay up if you cut the bottom, your out of luck with the 1 piece rubber fronts/rears. just zip tie the boot to the strut so the whole shebang stays up.

Always cut bumpstops when lowering car, even a mild drop requires bumpstops to be cut. This will allow you to regain some of the strut travel that you lose when lowering the car.

Both Tokico and KYB recommend this as well.

What works for me with the rubber bumps it to cut the bottom section of the bump and toss the boot. I then get rancho boots and zip tie them around the remaining bump stop. The boots are $3-4 each at my local parts store in the offroad section. Stock boots are over priced.

i know, but the top part of the bump stops fit into the top hat. and when i cut it, it didnt fit anymore. so all i have is the boot just hanging loose in there. so i dont know how any one else did theirs.

Its fine if its just in there top or bottom doesnt matter as long as its in there. Think about how it works..youll see what i mean.

It will sit loosely in there until you reassemble everything. Once there is a load on the car, you'll be fine. The dust boot/bumpstop will work fine that way.

But, I do like the idea of using the Rancho replacement boots now that I think about it.

I am running Tokico HPs with Maxspeed and cut my bumpstops. 7k miles later and no issues with them.

ok, i decided to just trimmed the bottom part of the boot, instead of cutting the top part, which is the area thats connected to the top hat, it seems like it doesnt interfere with the movement of the strut

How did you reattach the dust boot? It's one piece. I am slightly confused to exactly what you trimmed. If all you did was trim the dust boot section, that is not going to do anythying. The actual bump stop portion (harder rubber) needs trimmed.
