mobil 1. unsettling engine noise after switch.

so i juust switched to mobil one 2 or 3 weeks ago...since then everytime i turn the engine on...i hear this...idk weird "knock like" feel from the engine each time i start it...

heres what unsettles me the most, when its cold i cannoott run it over 2.5k rpms...it makes a weird, scary noise as if the internals were rubbing on ea other, its sort of a screech idk how to describe it...

the car has 33k and to my knowledge it has never run on synthetic...

what could be this noise when its cold? new oil? should i switch back??

i dnt mind not being able to run the car over 2 or 2.5k rpms when its cold, i kno i shouldnt but as soon as it goes over 2k it starts sounding odddd..and it unsettles me, aloooott.. im super picky and freak out over anything..

I switched to mobile1 0w-40 full synt. right away when i bought the car - at 20k something, and now 30k miles later, the engine sounds better then ever before...

Changing the oil to Mobil 1 should not make your enigine make noise. I've used it for years on all our Nissan cars without any problems.

Did you over fill? Is the level correct? Oil filter on right?

I'd have a mechanic look at it.....

its not fake i took it to the local sears. a block away from my house.

its 5w30, same its always run on i think...
ive tried remote starting the car 5 or 10 mins before school in the morning to see if it helps but even after it warms up fully it makes the weird noise for about a mile down the road...

Are you kidding??Winter grade? You think they have winters in florida?
Lol I live in Montreal quebec Canada and all I have to say is that theres almost nothing like our winters!!We get like -30degrees celcius sometimes during the winter. My cars has made any sound close to what he's relating to...

I use 5w30 and 10w30 and I never had any problem, not even during cold starts at -30 c with a wind factor close to -45.

You should bring the car at a garage for sure something is really wrong.

maybe it has nothing to do with the engine and everything to do with the transmission or axles

I have been wondering lately about the same thing. Mine seems to run less smoothly when I use Mobil1 5w-30. I never said anything previously but now the world knows that Mobil highly degraded their 5w-30 formula and it's now a waste of money. However the Mobil1 0w-40 appears to be getting the great results back from Blackstone labs as we're used to expecting from Mobil.

Go to your local Nissan Dealer, find a cool mechanic and tip him like $20 to have him use his Consult II to decrease your timing.

I think base timing can go from 14-17 degress.

I've used Mobil 1 Synthetic 10w-30 since I bought my car and I've never had a problem with it. Where are you buying it from?

Has there been any other changes that you have noticed? MPG?

If you had absolutely no noise or vibs prior to the oil change at Sears, then could they possibley have drained the oil, and then some nimrod ran the engine before realizing that they hadn't put the fresh oil in it causing engine damage?? The brand, type or viscosity of the oil, by itself, should not be the cause of what you are describing. Ever thought about changing your own oil? And........what the hell is "wintered oil"???

well this week its sort of stopped...

mayb its the engine getting used to the diff type of oil...i came up to tampa this weekend. thought a 4 hr drive would help the oil settle the engine...

mayb it was a stupid idea since this morning i discovered another problem, to which i just opened a thread.

its always something wt my car...wt only 33k miles i cant imagine how itll b once i get to 60, IF i get there

I no longer believe that Mobil 1 5w-30 is good for the VQ-35. I switched to Castrol GTX on my last change (70k). My car has since been more responsive and I am now averaging 2o more mpg. I will get a sample analyzed 3k into my next oil change.

I switched to synthetic at 12k.
