Why does this SAME tire size keep being asked upon if it will fit a 17x7?

SEARCH!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, I saw for SAFETY reasons, go with a 17x7.5. It aint like you gonna gain a hell of alot more tire, it is only 10mm wider and the speedo will now be off about 2.2%

i still never understand why 225/45/17s will throw you off more than 235/45/17s.. same circumference... do i stand correct?

umm...no

the 45 is the percent of the 235

235 is the width (in mm)...the 45 is the percent of the width that makes up the sidewall...for example, if you look at a saturn w/ a 185/60r14 tire or an expedition w/ a 265/60r16 the tire on the expedition will have a much bigger sidewall

so anyways you take 45 percent of the 235 and that is how you get the sidewall height...then the letters VR for stock 17s is just the speed rating and the 17 is obviously the rim size

in review

235-width of tire in mm
45-sidewall of tire taken by multiplying .45 (the percent) times 235 (the width)
R-speed rating
17-size of rim

i know most of that was previously known but o well...i'm bored

Load rating is not 3 digit alphanumeric characters.

89H = load rating of "89"(Dunno the system too well.) The "H" Being the speed rating.

some tires are marked SR = 112, HR = 130, VR = 149, ZR = 149+, WR = 168+.
err...i was just starting to sound smart

i was under the impression that the entire VR or WR was the speed rating not just the V or W parts...thanks for the correction...now i know
