Any free flowing muffler is quiet when the rest of ur system is restrictive. Open the rest up and things change. Once i take care of a few things I wouldn't mind trying to "perfect" my exhaust tone. I'm interested to see where this thread goes.

We are all aware that the stock catback is capable of supporting 247whp, right?

anyone have experience with removing the resonator but keeping the stock muffler? Would that make more of a difference than the cat or b-pipe? (I'm assuming it will)

Blah, the link (to the video clip) is dead. Still useful to hear opinions though, so thanks. I didn't realize the B-pipe included the resonator too.

when you change the b-pipe...you change the resonator

Cattman Exhaust!

Don't waste your time thinking that guy (Sparks03) has this or that! I thought the same thing and he assumes everyone wants to read his short part/mod listing! I personally find it kinda odd that someone would spent big $$$ on those Cattman headers and try to force them thr Any that crimped to **** Oem exhaust system! I have headers that aren't installed yet and my vehicle has responded very well to the Cattman/y-pipe and exhaust especially at mid to hi rpm range! Anyway good luck with HIM!!!

Yeah, instead of wasting 30 seconds reading my mod list, badger me about what mods I have and make random assumptions. Great idea!!!

The only part of the stock catback that is crimped is the b-pipe, which has 2 crimps in it.

Even with a couple of crimps in the stock bpipe, 95% of the power to be seen from the 5.5 gen exhaust system is the Headers/ypipe.

Just ignore the troll.

Like others have stated the muffler makes the biggest change.

I like the way mine is, free flowing muffler and a nice large resonator. An unresonated exhaust with a free flowing muffler sounds like a pickup truck without a muffler. Start with changing the resonator/b-pipe, Its the cheapest to change out and play with also.

I used to love how my 01 max sounded with powertech muffler & y-pipe... Some people used to tell me that it somewhat had the tone like a g35. All i know is my next max powertech is going back on. Good luck
