Yeah, be VERY VERY VERY freagin careful when drilling. Cause you need to make sure you aint drilling into anything like the fuel line that runs on the driver's side.

This aint gonna be a fun job, hope you got the whole day free for this one.

You can also use Silicone...
Don't worry, it will stay.

It'll will only take long if u are working by yourself. Do you have any buddies to help with the install? Let me know when u get the sides mounted.

Why did you need to solder? What kit did you buy?

Better check your connections.
Oh and do you have any more pictures (or bigger ones) of your car with the Nija kit. I haven't seen one in Gray Lustre. Thanks!

The reason i need solder is to make the connections stronger and stuff between the wires.

Neon Lights now working

Did you ground the lights or just give them power?

Touch the metal piece (of the transformer thingy) to the negative terminal.

Ground

Were you serious about not grounding them or just joking? Yes, anything on a DC circuit has to be grounded to work (AC too but it is not a "ground"). The ground completes the circuit kind of like a maglight flashlight with batteries in it but the bottom not screwed on. Also, is the 7 amp fuse what came with it? That seems a bit small. I would assume a whole neon kit to need at least a 20-30 amp fuse. If it is too small it will blow very quickly, and also cause the lights to not work.

on the instructions, it didnt have anything about the "extra" wire going from the transformer to the negative on the battery. i knew somethin was up but still..didnt want all the lights blowing up on me u know? also, theres a built in fuse from the transformer to the switch already that came with the undercar kit. a 7-10 amp fuse is recommended going from the transformer to the positive on the battery. i bought a slow blow 7 amp fuse from radio shack and just soldered it on. sooo...connect the wire to the negative also and i should be gettin em lit huh? damn i luv this forum!
thanks alot guys

Ground

Yes, the ground should solve your problem. You may want to be carefull about soldering on the fuse. If it ever blows you will have to re-do all of it. There are fuse holders that make that job a snap. However, it should never blow unless there was a problem somewhere else such as a short. Remember to clean your ground off if you are going to attach it to the metal on the car somewhere. Some steel wool works ok, just make sure the ground is clean and the metal is bare. Be really careful if you are just touching it to the negative terminal of the battery or anywhere else with your bare hands, you will probably get a short spark. Have fun.

Look, I did the neon thing 13 years ago. Back then, you couldn't buy a kit at Pep Boys. You made your own tubes and housed them inside plex tubing. Then, you either drilled and "clamped" them under your car or you ran a bead of clear Silicon and stuck the tube there. Prop it and/or tape it in place over night and you're set for life. That is, until the dealer jacks your car up and break everything.

Maybe, some day, I'll post some pictures of the good ole days...
