Opinion Needed...Found a 2000 SE For Sale

Hey, fellow 4th gener here. My 1996 Maxima was just totaled. I found a 2000 Silver SE. Dual power seats. Black leather interior, heated seats, 5-speed, excellent condition. Never been wrecked. 144,000 miles. I need to run a car fax report before I make any decisions on it. I am going to take a look at it this Saturday. The only problem that caught my eye was she said it was 1/2 quart low on oil in between each oil change. Sounds like a gasket is bad somewhere. They are the second owner. Does this sound like a good deal?

Edit: Price is $4700

I see now. Didn't think to check for a thread as this. Mods, please lock this if you see fit.

I would not buy it. Internal engine problems can easily create a repair bill that is easily as large as the 6,300 dollar difference between this car and a low mileage 2002 or 2003 Maxima.

the price is too high, you need to negotiate. Also it might be a good idea to bring your car in for the Nissan 50 point inspection(or how ever many points it is) My dealer did it free when I bought my car. They'll check for any potential problems and let you know what it would cost. you can have all these things deducted from the cost of the car if you really wana strike a deal with the owner.

Also beware of that Oil loss. It's not very common that a Vq30 burns oil, however a Vq35 is a somewhat different story.
