Lowered Maxima pulling to one side

Hello

I have a 2k maxima that has been lowered with Maxspeed springs.

The problem is when I turn the wheel hard to the left the car pulls left. When I turn the wheel hard right the car pulls right.

I just had the CV axles replaced along with the tie rods.

What is causing the car to do this?

Thanks

Walt

That is very weird...

You didn't mention having your alignment done. Maybe it's off after you got lowered.

Are you referring to the car having more of a tendency to want to turn like the steering is being "sucked" into a certain direction? What you are experiencing might be caused by the toe-out after the drop. The car will also have more of a tendency to follow ruts in the road (tramlining) when there is excessive toe-out. You need to get it realigned.

OK so over the last week I had the axles replaced along with the Tie rod ends. I had the car worked on at NTB. They stated that they aligned the car twice to get it as close as possible.

Now I am sure they did the Laser alignment and just pulled up the Maxima specs and tried to get the car aligned based on those numbers. But my car is different. Lowered car on 18 inch rims. Wheels and tires aspect ratio is close to the stock numbers though.

maybe the shop didn't replace the outer tie rods LOL.

IT sounds like a something's wrong with your rack and pinion....

I dont understand what he's talking about, thats what its supposed to do. Is this a joke?

If not do this for some troubleshooting.
Drive on a level surface, let go of the wheel, if it pulls to one side or the other, than you have an alignment issue or a tire issue.

The cheapest thing to do for testing purposes
1. is to make sure the tires are inflated to the same psi, test it.
2. Still has the problem, flip the front tires, test it.
If that doesnt do anything, then the tires are not the problem, no money lost. Then you have a suspension issue.

I used to do a lot of suspension work and would say that half the time the tires were to blame. the other half was alignment and worn out balljoints or tierod ends. Once in a while you get a car in with a bent LCA, usually the old people get this.

How much did you lower your car? Maybe you're experiencing an over torqued upper strut shaft nut or two bad strut bearings, was all that New....

Went back to the shop and based on what I am experiencing it seems as though it's the rack and pinion.

Waiting on the quote.

oh thats an easy one just start putting milk in the gas tank and your good to go.

To the op sounds like a rack and pinion problem. does the wheel still turn back normally after making a turn or does it have resistance?

I have had 3 estimates and everyone has concluded rack and pinion replacement will cure what ills this car. Now looking to see where I would like to get the service done. $1600 @ the Nissan shop $900+ @ the other shops.

Honestly....I wouldn't get the work done. Just wait and see if the problem (is it really a problem?) becomes worse. If you have to replace or rebuild the rack and pinion what have you go to lose if you wait?

It seems like you are very sensitive to changes in the car. After a drop or lowering, and even after alignment, you will still be slightly off or outside the specs. It is normal. Rack and pinion porblems on 2k's are not normal.
