All steel.

No rust either, it's held up to a few winters in both MD and TN.

Now all OBX has to do is make a 3rd version but with the collectors dumping into 3in pipes.

Nice, so you did measure it to be 2.5in?

The older ones were like 2 or 2.25

The equal length tubing looks to be tighter then cattmans, but probably still won't clear a blehmco LTB.

3" won't happen...not cost effective to any company. Your best bet is custom, not mention custom stuff is just nicer anyways...

You 5th gen owners can dream right? If they showed higher gains and there was demand someone would make it. Wasn't Cattman saying if he got enough people he would do a 3in exhaust, I bet he would do a gen4 header with 3in downpipes to go with a full 3in system if there was enough interest. Unfortunately this will probably never come to be and is all a pipe dream.

It would be terrible business move for brian to make a 3 inch header set up. Sure it would be nice to have it available, but for the price he'd have to sell it, I can take a guess as to how many people will buy it...

It would be better for both parties for the consumer to go custom.

AFAIK, DaveVQ is the one of the few to have made the adjustment to make the LTB fit with Cattman headers.

EDIT: nismology pointed out how tight the loop on the y-pipe is, I wonder if you can actually fit a LTB around those OBX headers. That was the main thing that prevented us from fitting one (unmodified) over the Cattman headers.

Here's my test fit:

On another note, those with the OBX headers should at least be able to change their oil easier than me... lol.

Are those cattman Headers?

I brought two products to this forum...all of you raised your hand to buy it...none of them had the money when the time came. Custom work is the best way to get things done around here. I did my 3" catback exhaust, I was nearly mentioning that a larger collector could prove to have more gains...MexiMax discovered this a long time ago. In fact there is alot of improvement that can be done over the current header design, just not a good idea if you want to continue to use the car as a daily and be able to change the oil.

Anything is possible, trust me. why do we always need someone else to make it for us?

For those of you who are interest in the 3" collector design...Flowmaster make a 2.25 primary(really our secondary) into a 3" collector. P/n Y214300 and for the 2.5" primary/w 3" collector p/n Y250300

its a myth...that was broken with dyno results and gains at around 15+whp could get more with header modification IMO of course.

This setup that broke the myth was a Oem manifold/Oem Y-pipe or an aftermarket y-pipe +stock manifolds connected to a 3" catback? Were the gains all the way thru it's usable RPM range or just peak power gains? Just cause it's gained power @ peak but lost power everywhere as doesn't mean it'll be great for street performance......

http://forums.maxima.org/dyno-discus...44-ft-lbs.html

Cattman headers, gained quite a bit of power with Cattman's 3" catback over the 2.5" catback.

Hmm, well I think I'll be one of the first to try the 3" catback without headers. Why not right?

Yall still haven't answered the real question...Where was power gained through out the 1000-6600 rpm range or just up @ the top?
