was this cheap

i just had my starter replaced. but when the car was up on the lift, there were a bunch of things about to go really really bad.
so i had the shop change the starter, change both belts, replace a tranny cooling line, replace both axles? and cv boots, repack whatever's inside those boots cuz it was sprayed all over my struts, and change my rear brake pads.
they did this all for 800. of course, the parts were all rebuilt or non-oem other than the brake pads which were nissan.
taken? cheap? about right??

Considering all they did that sounds pretty good if you ask me

*edit* assuming that was the final price after parts and labor

Eh, You could have saved 400 if you did it yourself. The starter is like 3 bolts and you can one at autozone w/ lifetime warranty for like 150, axles are probably only 60 each brand new and they come with the boots already packed and lifetime warranty, rear pads like 20, belts maybe 25 and im sure the shop gets all these parts a lot cheaper than that...

For all that work that sounds like just a labor charge. Hopefully the parts will last.

The price doesn't sound too bad... Quality mechanics aren't cheap and if the work is quality that is a decent amount of work to do and you probably paid around $75-$90 an hour for labor. So if the parts hold up and the work is quality you got a fair deal.

yeah, i figure i coulda saved a bundle if i sourced the parts myself and did my own labor. but of course, i'm not set up like that, i don't even have a decent lift. i coulda done the pads and starter myself. but there's no way i had the tools or expertise to do the axles or belts. and of course i don't know what i woulda done with the tranny line. maybe easy stuff, but i figure i drop it off in the morning, get it back by the afternoon, not bad on time.
today, i have to go in for a new set of tires. we found a couple sidewall tears while it was up there too. this is getting expensive. but of course, she's served me well for 9 years and 160000 miles and most of this stuff has lasted longer than can be reasonably expected.
