Where Do You Hide Your HID Ballasts?

What's up Max Members,

So I grabbed a set of HID's from the $60 group buy deal for the headlights and popped them in the next day. I found some decent places in the engine bay but couldn't find a good spot to hide the ballasts and wires if possible. I loved the color of the headlights and the light output so I grabbed anothe set for the fogs but before I yanked the lights out I was wondering where people were hiding their ballast for the foglights. Surprisingly it's 88 degrees in Washington state which is odd enough but I didn't wanna take on what I thought was a quick 20 minute job and end up sweating underneath my car for 2 hours trying not to create a rats nest of wires dangling from my bumper. Any suggestions or pics by chance of a clean install on either the heads or the fogs? Or should I just wait for my bumper to get painted this weekend?

Thanks

i just did mine the other day when you take out your headlight and look down into where the foglight is housed its pretty much a open space. at least on my 01 it was anenclosed open space if that makes sense but i just zip tied super tight the ballasts to other wires down there so it wouldnt rattle or makes noises when i hit bumps

o ya when you replace the fog bulb down there to save you time theres only one bolt holding the fog light in place but to get to it you have to take off a snap lock and one screw underneath the car its holding the black plastic skidplate in place so once you have that out the way youll see the only screw holding the bulb in palce. also u need a hammer to knock loose the 2 metal pieces holding the fog light in place youll see 2 white plastic guys in the middle of them is the 2 shiny metal rods knck them lose and the fog light pops right out like

Mount the ballasts to the solid bumper or elsewhere with 3M double-sided tape. As long as you swab both contact areas down with alcohol and wipe them completely clean with a lint-free cloth, you'll be golden.

As for the wires, just zip-tie them together...maybe wrap them in some wire cover.

I used rivnuts and AN bolts for my fogs. On the r/h side, the ballast ad ignitors were bolted next to the windshield washer reservoir on the frame under the cool fender area for the l/h side the same location but under the battery also to the frame under the cool aired fender area! No tape, No ty wraps, No flimsy brackets!!!

Well I'm glad I asked cause I was struggling to find a good place to try and hide these ballasts even though the ballasts are chrome and look pretty good actually. But still I wanted to get em secured away and partially concealed.

I did about the same with my fogs.

I made sure to invert my ballasts as well, so no water could collect on the power/in side.
Seems to be working well in 1.5 yrs.

My fog light ballasts are mounted on the reinforcement beam behind the bumper and my hid high beam ballasts are mounted on the other side of the oem ballast for the 5.5 headlamps.

Mounted mine right on the solid bumper in front of the ac condenser. Snaked the wires up beside the radiator. I had to put my halogens back in since one of the HID bulbs they shipped me was DOA. BOOOOOO

Finally got sometime to take some pics of my HID foglight ballast/igniter installation! If I'm unable to mount components with bolts and nuts, I'll usually 98% time use rivnuts when working with blind holes or noncritical items. Passenger's side HID install...

Driver's side HID install...
