Cowl drain?
Where does the cowl drain to I need to clean it out as i get rain water dripping on the passenger side carpet after the car has been sitting in heavy rain.
Its not coolant so I know its not the heater core.

If you're getting water inside the car it's most likely coming in through the ventilation system. I had a MAJOR problem in my Camry, (OK not a Maxima) and it was the seal around the air intake under the cowl. The water travelled through all the vent conduits so all 4 areas of the floor were completely soaked.
Start by removing the cowl (you probably have to remove the wiper arms to get it off) and stick a hose into the drains, they're at each corner, to see if they are clear. You may have to poke a piece of wire into them to clear them out if they're clogged.
If they're not clogged then look around the air intake where fresh air gets pulled in. That's where my Camry's problem was.

I'm also considering that it may be the condensation from the AC...but I dont recall it happening unless its raining. That may be because the humidity is higher when its raining causing more condensation....
