A little rivalry at the track would be fun as long as he doesn't get his butt all hurt and start swinging at people when even a ricey cobalt girl car walks him. For some reason he strikes me as that type of individual from his heated responses and call outs on here. Hopefully that's not the case.

As it stands right now, even grand_hustle would probably beat me with my clutch as fried as it is. It's to the point where if I hold the cruise control to speed up while in 6th gear at 65 mph, the clutch slips and the cruise control instantly turns off. For some reason it still does OK if I roll into WOT above 4500 rpms, but aggressive shifts and launching are out of the question.

Ah. You see this is a constant recurring problem around here that annoys the hell out of me. Certain people in my local maxima car club insist on having my name in their mouth when talking sh*t. Apparently this "matchup" you speak of is one of those cases.

I've unknowingly challenged entire car clubs to race (on the street, HA!!!) without even being a party to it. I just love it when people talk for me, it makes me feel like I'm too important to talk for myself.

You vs steven. He may have more mods, but he's steven and is thus limited to his version of stoic IE 14.7@97, so you've got an easy kill IMO.

Sadly I'm not much of the calling out type. I know I'm slow, with the amount of mods I have I should at least be in the 12.7-12.8 range with a better driver.

grand_hustle, on the other hand, has only extended his challenge to 5.5 gens that are not located in certain areas. Sorry

That sucks... I feel your pain my car is my daily as well. What happened to it?

I wouldn't have anything to gain from bragging after beating you. It's an auto 4-speed with less mods. The auto is definitely faster at higher power levels from gearing, but it's a bit of a dog at N/A levels. I can say that from experience after sitting in the tuning chair of a certain black auto 5.5 gen for a couple of hours recently.

I would whole heartedly agree with you on the track since you b@stards get to stay in 3rd gear through the traps.

Okay...getting tired of this bull ish. Anyone care to tell me how the **** they angled their OBXs so they'd slide up onto the manifold? Before I put them on catapult and launch them into oblivion...

I'm sick of fighting with these things...

basically, dont tighten any bolts on the head, get em on the stud the loosely then just have the bolt hold em there, after the rear is on then let the fight begin... try to get the front manifold to line up with the y and bolt that in

Well, I guess I'm just going to go back out and fight with them. I'm almost half tempted to buzz through the lower part of the collector with a saw, have the shop weld on some flanges, and go from there if this doesn't work out.

This has been going for three days now. I'm exhausted...

Now you know why people are willing to pay 300-400 to have them installed!!!

I hate to start another ****-throwing fest, but my rear header went on in about 10 minutes

The rear motor mount metal cover needs to be modified/removed for the rear header to fit properly.

If I ever do this again, I'm going with Cattman. **** OBX. I'd be much happier seeing these ****ing things burn than having them installed...

Well it's easy enough to remove, just unbolt the subframe and the motor mounts then pull it down. You'll need a jack under the transmission to make the holes line back up to reinstall... the modification would be cutting a notch in it afaik. Isn't there an OBX header install thread around here somewhere with pics?

There is, and I've been using it as a guide, it's well-done. He just missed a lot of details. Like the rear heat shield being a *****.

But other than that, I just wasn't really sure where to cut. I guess I'll have to pull it and go from there.

Edit: Nevermind. It's just the shield that's in the way. It's only held on by two spot welds. I'm going to just cut/remove the bastard.

I had air tools and a lift throughout the header install. Saved so much time.

i have an air chisel. I just don't know where to hit the shield to make it break off. I'm assuming the weld next to the bolt holding the actual mount in place?

Yeah it appears you pay the price a bit on difficulty of install after removal of the stock headers with OBX. Install of the cattman headers after the stockers were off was a very simple bolton affair with no snags or issues. It took MAYBE an hour before the car was dropped after I began the installation. Of course, it's easily worth the price difference. I can't dispute that.

Removing those heat shields made me want to stomp kittens, though.
