ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!?!? The replies I got on that question weren't very encouraging. (see below) I don't know if I should be PO'd at myself or relieved that I "lucked out". Yours is a DE-K. When he said to get a used DEK, he was saying to use a 00VI from a DEK instead of a MEVI because it's better.

Actually, the 00VI doesn't have true dual runners like we all thought back when. It's an inverted MEVI.

Still seems to do the same thing by decreasing runner length up top.

Dynamic supercharging at its best. But it actually produces better torque than the MEVI, which is weird.

Sparks & NmexMax you're wizards! Where do you get all this stuff from? I'm REALLY amazed, since I've been into cars/bikes/trucks and turning wrenches since I was about 10yrs old. Granted I've been out of the performance loop for some time. But compared to you guys I feel like a rank amateur! BTW; Resonance, Tesla, Sparks, I get it!

Just lots of research and experimentation and friends/family into the same stuff doing the same thing.

This is a crazy buddy of mine who did the tig welding on my IM project playing with one of his tesla coils. Redneck scientists ftw

Correct me since I'm about to put my head in the toilet and flush it a couple of times to get the S**T out if I'm wrong. Speaking of Resonance from looking at the picture of stock exhaust manifolds it looks like the Nissan engineers used a 120deg tuning design. I notice how 2 ports Y on the same runner and 1 port has a separate runner. Going slightly off topic, my old 73 Capri V6 did something similar with 2 ports "Siamesed" in the head at the exhaust port with 2 runner manifolds. The Capri exhaust system was VERY unique, Resonance might have been the intent of the design because it sure wasn't simple. Each manifold had a 2"dia 6"L downpipe feeding into a triangular resonator roughly 12" per side 3" wide. Inside (looked with a flexlight and inspection mirror) the resonators were hollow with a perforated metal and packing shell. Dual 2"dia pipes ran from the resonators to twin oval 3 chamber side offset inlet/outlet mufflers just before the rear axle. Then dual 2"dia equal length pipes snaked over the axle back to a single 6"dia dual inlet/outlet resonator that was a big hollow tube with a perforated metal and packing shell. When I replaced the (resonators back) exhaust with a "Cherry Bomb" system it sounded amazing! At idle to around 1500RPM it rumbled like a big V8, changing to that Indycar sound (like Sparks 3" Cattman at WOT) around 2500-6500RPM.

I checked out RacingLine's site, NO listings for 5-5.5gen Maximas at all. The ONLY pre-cats I saw listed for the 5-5.5gens while searching that might be high flow were Catco. At least they were 100% stainless the others were aluminized tubes/powdercoated steel. Anybody else heard of Catco, opinions?

Perhaps "Mr. Catts" could take the RacingLine pre-cats, work his magic on them, and make the RacingLine parts compatible with the rest of his good stuff for the 5/5.5gens.

Ordered the 3" catback 2 weeks ago, received it last Friday and installed it the same day. The sound it makes is just outstanding and I've noticed a sight mid range power increase. A++ to this exhaust! ^^ Time to go tunnel blasting

Call RacingLine maybe if there's enough folks involved they'll do a group deal for the 5.5 Gens.....!!!!! Every shot you don't take is a shot missed IMO......Or get with an Exhaust shop and bring all the components and have them fab/weld it for you.......

Let's start a thread about that but let's ask Cattman if head would.....For those not interested in Headers this could be hell of an alternative.....I'll email Brian to get his take!!!!!!

Haven't measured it, but basically from the TB is the midpipe (about 4" - 5" long ?) to the MAF then to the filter, the filter is inches away from the battery if that helps.

I lost power on the dyno with a filter-on-MAF SRI compared to a SRI that goes to the headlight.

Or you gained power when you moved it behind your headlight, after you relocated the battery and cut a gapping hole under the headlight......

Both tests were done with the hood wide open and a fan blowing into the engine bay on the dyno within a few minutes of each other... IATs were identical.

I hope I get to dyno my new set-up soon, since my highest dyno to date was w/ an SRI, basically a filter strapped to my MAF, which was strapped to the TB.

There are a group of 5th Generation 2000-2003 Maxima enthusiasts interested in the RacingLine High-Flow Pre-Cats & Y-Pipe. However, there is no listing for these model years. Would it be possible to adapt the current products, or develop RacingLine High-Flow Pre-Cats& Y-Pipe products for the 5th Generation 2000-2003 Maxima? Thank you in advance for your time and consideration on this subject.

I think anyone with a little fab skills can make the Highflow precats or at least set it up for a welder to tack using a couple of 2.25" Dynatech powercats....

This Random Technology Metallic Substrate (Up Pipe Converter) is small and could probably be adapted for almost any Pre-Cat application. According to the specs. this converter is 3" Dia: x 9-5/8 inches Overall Length: Inlet Size: 2-1/2 inch ID; Outlet Size: 2-1/2 inch OD.
