Door Handle LEDs DIY/HOW-TO

If you're like me and don't have much experience with LEDs...

They sell premade LEDs with resistor already soldered and ready to install direct with any 12V power source.

I know this is over a year old but I just saw it, this has to be the worst writeup I've ever seen. Could that install be any uglier? What's with all the glue Dan (metal maxima) would have had a field day with this thread.

Yea, I really couldnt believe that someone would go anywhere with their car looking like that...I thought the idea was to enhance the look and interactions of our cars, not take half a step forward and two back...smh. Its not worth doing unless your going to do it right.

Putting my 2 cents in, why not actually put the LEDs in the door itself, and not the handle. It seems more practical to hide them in the "cup" than even try and hide them in the moving parts. Also, if you are going to do this, for goodness sake take the time to hide the wires considering you have an OEM boot that you can run the cables through so conveniently located.
I understand it takes time and frustration to run it where original wires are, BUT, as The6spdMax points out, it is to be PROFESSIONAL. You can't show a car in this condition and expect people to talk about the positives.

The best way to handle it is take the usefull information from the thread, he's told us 'how' to do this mod, how you specifically do it in your instance, and how cleanly, etc, is entirely a function of your abilities.
He could have posted the cleanest damn job ever, and then 'you' can go attempt it and it will turn into a bloody disaster. On the other hand you can take the good out of the post, and do a better job of the install.
Between that point, and the fact that this thread is a year+ old, I say "Stand down" haters.
I am looking forward to doing this mod, I'm going to try and get it more directional though, I want the light to shine down the door a bit, not just illuminate under the handle. I think that looks kind of silly with just the half-oval illuminated (more like 'glowing')
The most usefull part of this thread is the information about the Dome light wiring location/colour code in the A-Pillar.
I'm doing it a completely different way, I'll be using a relay that operates the MAP light and door handle illumination when the Unlock button is pressed, or any time a door is opened.
Will be powered on a separate circuit, and all wiring will be run through doors in stock locations. Also, I will try installing the lights in the doors, NOT the handles, if possible. Less moving parts that wiring runs through the better.
