Autozone starters, anyone have experience?
Autozone starters, anyone have experience?
So my starter has begun to crap out on me. When i go to start it, it sounds like the starter is dawing too many amps from my battery & is starting to kill it.
The starter will go dead for a split second and then crank. I measured the voltage it is drawing and my DMM reads 9 volts at the battery when cranking. It shouldn't read so low....
anyway i was looking for a starter and the only store that has them in stock is Autozone, and they also have a lifetime warranty, but my questions is would i be better off getting an OEM quality starter?
or would a lifetime warranty be better considering the warranty maybe the quality isn't so great ) .
i just don't want to have to keep taking this starter back to AZ every year because of the lack of quality.
Anyone ever buy one of these?

Couldn't get one of theirs to work in my '90 Accord, all three they gave me (two under warranty) would grind every 2nd or 3rd start. Went to an all Honda wrecking yard, got a used one which worked perfectly and got my money back on the Autozone starter.
Autozone doesn't make its own starters; it purchases from manufacturers that produce, rebuild, or repackage parts. It depends on the brand you get. I have a Bosch starter (rebuilt using factory core) for my Maxima that is more heavy duty than the stock one.
Also, the Autozone Duralast brand Ignition coils are genuine Made in Japan, repackaged for sale through another brand.

I got a rebuilt starter from advanced auto parts. It had a lifetime "limited" warranty. Worked great for about a month then crapped out on me. I went back to replace it and they told me I could only use the warranty once. So I used it and got another starter. Long story short and 4 starters later, They ended up ordering me a brand new starter. So I would stay away from rebuilds and go with a brand new one. GOOD LUCK !!

I have tried in my 99 max I had. First one I bought came defect from the store. Second one I bought made all kind of weird noise when you try to crank it. I personally don't like them. Cheap stuff.
