LOL!

If you hadn't already put it in my car when I'd returned with Markus, I'm quite sure my first reaction would have been, "Yeah, right, get out of here with that thing!"

But I'm also sure a little discussion would have have allowed for the overall harmless of try-and-see.

Thank you, thank you, Sam-I-Am.

I just don't understand why everyone is fighting tooth and nail to get Rochester to take this thing off of his car.

Did he spend y'all's money? No. Is he saying he feels any HP gains, or claiming that it actually makes his car faster? No. Is he saying he enjoys it? Yes.

So what's the point of crucifying him over buying this thing? It's his cash, not yours. Just. Let it go. I'm sure there are little mods that each and every one of us has/have had done to our cars that we like, and others frown upon.

This arguing is like watching a train wreck in slow motion. People get so uptight around here when it comes to controversial "mods."

They only had Mini and BMW Sprint Boosters. Maybe some other time...

I'm seriously considering this for the genesis. Especially from 2slows quantitative approach on the subject, THAt car would benefit from it. With the monstrosity LRMAF housing, for Darcy.

Well, you parked your car in a foreign country in a persons driveway you met on the internet and didn't even lock it. Then you left it unattended. You should have paid a little more attention to that movie they made you watch at the border.

Sprint booster are widely known in the bimmer wordl and they are very effective, they also won some prize at the SEMA show in 09 if I'm not mistaking on the date. I recently tried my friend X5 4.8 that has the sprint booster and honestly I was really surprise, the throttle response is instant no lag at all. I'm about to install one on my X5. I might throw one in the max as well. This product has nothing to do with the tornado and that kind of crap.

For everyone else, let's summarize (again):
  1. I thought the Sprint Booster was just another scam.
  2. The test-drive in my car was forced on me before I could say "no thanks", harmless as the intent was.
  3. Turns out, I really liked the way it changed the throttle sensitivity.
  4. I was offered a half-price deal, and happily accepted.
  5. Then I created this thread.
To all those members with their panties in a bunch... how's that working out for you? Because I'm still enjoying my Sprint Booster, and you little rascals are still trying to convince me I shouldn't.

I know what's in it for me. Haven't a clue what's at stake for you guys.
My OP means "other people" sorry! I fully understand the scenario though.....That's why I really don't talk much about my findings nor experiments on here anymore......the 3" Catback beatdown was it for me.....LOL!!!! You're only trying to spread the gospel that this isn't a scam device like the POS Tornado!

Just a note on the Sprint Booster. Very popular with the BMW crowd that drive 328's. IT cures the flat-spot-off-idle that the 3.0 engine is famous for. A couple of salespeople where I work have the SB installed on their personal cars...

It's been 3 months now since I started this thread. (Willfully enduring all the slings & arrows, I might add.)

After all this time, I can't really speak to this mod anymore. However, in a few weeks I'll be removing the Sprint Booster and the NWP Torque Link Connector for the winter months, and I imagine I'll be very aware of the changes all over again.

Rochester could you tell any difference @ WOT with and without the SB installed?

Not at all. WOT is a constant. All the SB does is get you to WOT faster. Or, to satisfy the naysayers... it gives you the perception that you're achieving WOT faster.

It doesn't really matter either way, if you like it. Which has been my point all along.

I realize what it does @ a part throttle, I'm just curious if it actually opened the throttle and held it open when placed in WOT cause the OEM program closes the throttle blade/butterfly higher in the rpm regime to cut power and make it less competitive with the 350z/G35....

i'm sure has been proven as false ages ago. It depends on where you get the signal from.

I'm sure you meant:"I'm sure that has been proven as false ages ago" but even TS stated the throttle butterfly was closing very close to the redline!!!! So why would it be false or vary depending on where the signal was taken?

because I read on the org that the obd2 reports it as closing but if you read the signal directly it is not closing.

I can make one for 2000-2001 Maxima. How much would somebody be willing to pay for it? Keep in my mind that y manufacturing cost is going to be higher than the Sprint Booster because my design would be different.

I removed my Sprint Booster last weekend. My intent was to not use it during Winter months. I'll be removing my NWP Torque Link soon for the same reasons, when the snows & steelies go on the car. Anyway, I thought it was worth commenting on what it's like to take the Booster *out* of the configuration. I have two observations:

  1. The pedal immediately felt mushy.
  2. The car is easier to drive.

That mushiness feeling is going away, but it will forever feel a little limp now that I have something to compare it to. As to the car being easier to drive... by that I mean it's slightly less aggressive with a more dull pedal response.

I'm still processing where my head is at... but removing it for Winter seems the right thing to do.

I am glad that you did your part for the Greece bailout :-)

Seriously, since you already know the psychology behind the Sprint Booster, I won't give you too much grief except to tell you that I have replaced my throttle pedal with a binary on-off switch and man, my car now flies as soon as I touch the pedal :-)

Wow, that post gave me whiplash, 5 months later.

I've been wanting to put mine back on, but the damn clip broke coming off last year, and I haven't figured out how to attach it securely otherwise. But mostly I haven't been wanting to twist myself upside-down into my driver's footwell to get this going again, because I know to fix this I'll have to get in. Then out. Then in again. Then out again.... over and over.

Christ, I'm lazy.

^^^ aw come-on John there is plenty of room for all 6' 7" of you to get in and hang upside down under the dash ... there is just something very comical picturing you get in and out from under the dash.

It was very easy for me to get up in there...I'm only 5'5" LOL! Took me about 30 seconds to clip it in. I ran the little button through the fuse cover hole underneath the heated steering wheel button and put the button right on the cover.

BTW....who in the world would even BOTHER with the "green" setting....it's either ALL GO.....or not.

I'm only 5' 10". You're the tall one, Ghost.

But I hear you... my excuses are lame.

"Green setting"? You must have purchased the new model. I'm thinking the reason for the 3 settings (off / on / sensitive) are so that you can continually switch things up, otherwise you become too accustomed to things. At least, that's what I would do if I had the option.
