SRS catback review

I'm a bit afraid of that happening when I put the Cattman Headers/Y-Pipe & FastCat on. There's differences between the VQ30DE-K vs. VQ35DE & OBX vs. Cattman so I'm hoping it won't be an issue. I e-mailed Cattman to ask on the feasibility of adding precats to the Y-Pipe. But it's doubtful there's enough clearance & would require major modifications to the design. If it could be done at all.

The SRS sounds great. Like I and Tuner have stated - no rasp, no fart. It has a nice deep tone. It's just too loud for me. The trip to Matt's confirmed this. The trip is almost all highway @ 120km -75 mph, (100km speed limit). At this speed it's not that irritating, until you start putting the engine under load going up hill. Then the drone or loud is too much for me.
In town is the worst. Being an auto, it shifts to 3rd or 4th @ low speed when driving realtivly slow. Under load @ 1.5k - 2.5k @ around 35 -45 mph is why the muffler has to go.

The weird thing is I don't notice a huge increase in drone at any load/speed. In city driving it's more prominent in the 1.5K-2K range, but drops to minimal by 2K and above. Maybe it's the 3.0 vs. 3.5 or OEM vs. Cattman Y-Pipe, perhaps our cars have different gearing. There's actually a lot of variables to explain a difference. At any rate, I hope the 'G' muffler solves the problem to your satisfaction.

Should be an interesting experiment. Good Luck! BTW; as a Canadian you should be happy it's 60mm pipe. Instead of our antiquated American 2.5". Eh?

Well, the G muffler is on and,... success! It took the poor guy 3 hours to do it, (he originally quoted me $50). He had to send his kid out for more sawzall blades as cutting the stainless tips & pipe chewed them up quickly. I wanted to preserve as much of the stainless pipe as possible, so he had a real hard time making the tight bend to reach the G muffler inlet that is offset all the way to the right and the SRS is centred.
The end result is that the tips stick out a little farther than I wanted. A little beyond the bottom of the bumper but still short of the center of the bumper. One tip is not perfectly straight, (I'm picky), but it's o.k. He had to weld on new hangers and mount the muffler on an angle because it's so wide. then to get the tips straight, he had to cut and weld them on the opposite angle. When he was done he said "how does 80 bucks sound? I smiled and said how about a hundred? I handed him two 50's and drove away smiling as I listened to my new exhaust.
I now have a quiet 2 1/2" exhaust with a nice growl @ start up and a subdued purr @ cruising speed. I feel that top end performance has stayed and low end still a little less than stock, (perhaps I will put my stock air box back on and see if that makes a difference).
All in all For $500 total, (thanks in large part to Tuner's generosity), it's a done deal. Well, the exhaust that is.

Thankis for the vid 95VQ, sounds pretty damn good, but I wanted to hear shocks as I'm looking to do a similar set-up with a G muffler like her did.
Hopefully he's still on here.
@ 5thgenhaas, man you riced that thing out.... haha jks.
Looks good bro, thanks for the pic.
