5th gen Off Topic Thread (Official Ghustle thread v1)
It's a good thing I didn't graduate yet and don't have money because if I did I would be thoroughly torn between getting a G37 or a Mustang GT. Both to be accompanied by a beater so they would not have the burden of being daily drivers of course.
Probably more occasional straight-line speed because I really don't drive all that hard. Obviously when the time comes I'll give both a drive and while testosterone and the thrill-seeking part of my brain will probably say Mustang, I'm sure my common sense will say G37.
I drove a 5.0 Mustang across a parking lot one time and I've never driven a G37, but I'm sure Rochester's assessment from a while ago will probably hold true. Driving a Mustang, or really any other similar V8 muscle car, is a hell of a lot of fun but you're in one gear: go. The car wants to go ***** to the wall all the time. In a car like the G, you have some nice getup but you can also smoothly cruise along when you want to, too.

I noticed that it's the screw in bump stops that cause the wobbling.
Their height is wrong. They should be a little taller for the hood to rest solidly on them. I unscrew mine a bit to keep it tight whenever the hood start wobbling haha.
I never had this problem on my '00.

I have said that everytime someone complains about there hood and yet nobody listens
Did that on my 03 and hood never budged again

Don't get me wrong, they're a blast. When you want to go fast. But when you're just wanting to cruise around, they get kind of old and tiresome. My buddy has a '07 Mustang with the 4.0 V6 Pony Package. It looks good, but MAN is that thing a drag to be stuck in for hours on end. The seats are comfortable...but it's loud, noisy and bumpy.
That's why I'm so content with my G35. I know everyone on here likes to dog on it being "slow," but it's still quicker than your average commuter car. So it has enough oomph to go when I want to, but it's also comfortable and refined if I just want to go cruising. Which is also a big plus on long road trips.
For what it's worth, the G37 is nearly as punchy as most of the domestic muscle cars out there. It just isn't delivered in that same break-your-beck fashion, because the powerband is more linear, and there's so much more refinement to the VQ37 than there is to most of those small block V8's.
I bet if you put a G37 with a fully modified suspension up against a Mustang GT with a fully modified suspension, the contest would be a blow-out.
That's my biggest argument with domestic muscle cars. All they have is one speed... And it's a back-breaking ride, too. Especially in older muscle cars.

). I so want another one... an SRT model actually.
Not all modern muscle cars are loud, noisy, and bumpy.
My Hemi Magnum was a super awesome cruiser when you wanted and a break-your-back speed demon when you stomped on it. I had a ton of room inside, it was quiet (although a little on the cheap side for interior plastics), it had all the bells and whistles like Nav, dual climate zones, heated seats, bluetooth, auto mirror, steering wheel controls. It was a dead-nuts reliable 5.7L V8 that got me over 25MPG cruising down the freeway (15 in town though...

I know a lot of people like the Magnum, and don't get me wrong, it's a nice car. But I didn't like it when I drove it. It literally felt like a tank through the corners. Then again, I also drove the V6, and not the SRT-8. I also drove an AWD Chrysler 300. Quick car. But man it felt sloppy trying to get the *** end to go around a corner...
The only argument I have with Mopar is that while Ford is continuing to improve on their interior fit and finish (and GM is FINALLY starting to do the same), everything inside of a Mopar, even on fully-loaded models, still feels cheap and lackluster.
Don't get me wrong. Mopar makes some decent cars, and I LOVE the look of the Challenger (it looks the more similar to its classic, older brother than either the Mustang or the Camaro), and I really hope that they do decide to re-release the Roadrunner as well, but Mopar still has a lot of catching up to do when it comes to battling it out with Ford and GM...

The new GT does have pretty good stability and tracking, I will give it that. But at the end of the day, Ford is still cutting corners, and putting solid rear ends in the Mustang. Good for dragging, yes. But not for cornering. Imagine how much faster the Mustang would be in and out of the corners if they put an independent rear end on the car.
Will the Mustang go back to the Irs of the Cobra that was built 10 years ago? Tough to say. Remember, Ford wants to keep it's Mustang priced comparably with it's competiton, the Camaro and Challenger.
Just because a car has a live rear axle doesn't necessarily mean it can't handle as well as IRS. Yes, the axle is cheaper in parts, but R&D also comes into play in the cost. And can be good for cornering. Live axles are still being used in Nascar. And if a live axle Mustang can run identical lap times of the almighty M3, that's quite impressive, and for a much cheaper price, too.

Live axles are still used in NASCAR because they just go in a circle for 400 miles and then call it a day.

Also...it's well-documented that 750 WHP doesn't really play nice with universal joints over that kind of a distance.

Chrisss. I need your help.
How's the output on the Morimoto minis? They'll supposedly drop right into the housing of the 1st gen G coupe headlights. So I may give them a shot as opposed to cutting up my housings to try and make a different projector fit.

I just think Ford's decision to make another car with a live rear axle was a poor one. Granted, yes, the Mustang was originally made to be a beast in a straight line. So the LRA is good for that. The problem you run into with LRAs, though, is the inability to adjust for camber, toe and the likes. I know there's SOME adjustment, but it's not as refined as it is with IRS.
IDK if i should be happy at my MPG but i am a lil surprised... 357 (tach was started exactly 7miles late) and still a lil more to go... sure i want more but with 2 bad o2 sensors (actually not even hooked up) 1 primary and 1 secondary and a huuuuuge exhaust leak (sounds like open headers) im very surprised to be getting this much... especially when my old 5.5 is getting 320 and ranmass is getting 380 with his bad tune but so much more breather mods
Everything has a price. And if somebody can give me what I am asking for it, then I will let it go.
Reason the seats are not included is because they are worth $2k a piece. So unless I get an offer for $10.5k for it, then I will remove the Legit Japan Bride's.
