Unless someone maps out an under hood temperature grid, hood spacing, hood vents, duct piping, removal of splash shields is all kinda snake oil to me....IMHO.
Install the functional hood louvrs that came on the 87 iroc 5.7 wilwood edition that will cool things down

You can always go this route.

I'm sure it could look decent if installed correctly(maybe...), much better than scoops or that super aggressive CF hood.

It's not like we have serious heat issues in our engine bay. We are NA for the most part after all.

There is plenty of places to grab cool air from.

Don't understand why anyone would do this.

Yeah, without a under hood air temp grid, I have to agree. Otherwise it's just a shot in the dark in many respects.

Of course with several options discussed, those regarding modification of hood, vents/spacing/etc....I struggle with the possibility of my junk getting wet. Er, my engine/electronics getting drowned.

Just whip out the 6" hole saw and have at it ffs and as far as getting your junk wet your too old for that and besides the hookas charge extra for junk wetting service.

4)it stupid because you make it easier for thieves to cut your battery cable.
5) you don't drive a civic
6) http://www.importatlanta.com/forums/...-your-car.html

bad reasons to do it:
engine swap'd and needed for clearance
designed your turbo wrong

edit: The invader hood probably lowers temps on a maxima. Pulls the hot air right from the radiator. But even that might be a bad idea. Either way it doens't add HP and no one really tracks a maxima so the whole thing is moot. Just keep it stock and keep it shut.

Vents/scoops would look terrible on our cars IMO.

Ripping off the rubber seal would certainly help air flow but I'm with Chris Gregg in the whole not wanting everything to get wet.

An angled hood with no rubber sealing wouldn't work well in this situation...

The other thought I had was running cold water through the stock TB waterlines. Issue is youd need a pump and all the necessary plumbing. The other issue too is the effect would be (for the most part) localized to the TB, and unless you are pumping water out of a cooler full of ice water the effect wouldn't be much as I doubt the TB gets that hot (relative to ambient temp) anyway.

Our cars were designed to be elegant and a little sporty, with some sleeper ***** under the hood. No idea why people will go to all these crazy lengths to scrape out another 10-20hp (at very best) out of the car at the cost of making it possibly look funny.

Like i said before..get creative with some stealthy air ducting to feed your intake colder air.....and lose your bottom panels to create more fresh air turbulence under the hood before ever raising the hood up or doing something else extreme....

Don't do this. Besides increasing your fuel consumption, you will have many other unintended consequences (e.g. less effective flow through the radiator). 2kMaxim does not know what he is talking about. The engineers designed it that way for a reason.
