Fog Light Adjustment

So I removed the stupid HID fogs and installed new Fog light housings and new 2700K Halogen bulbs. Damn things are aimed WAY too low. With the car 6 feet from the garage door the cut off is around 7's from the floor. There is a 12" gap from the fog light cut off to the low beam cut off. I want to raise the fogs beam up a hair. Is my only option to adjust with the fogs out then reinstall and check out the pattern. Repeat as necessary? Thats gonna suck. Has anybody tried trimming the space behind the fogs to get a clear shot of the adjustment screw?

So apparently section EL-80 of the manuel shows the adjustment screws are able to be reached from the back of the bumper. Mine are covered by a section of plastic. Maybe I have an aftermarket bumper cover and never realized it? Do you guys have it covered?

I am pretty sure the way I aimed them was just whip them out of the bumper, I am pretty sure thats the only way to aim, unless you want to dremel out the plastic, but even then good luck getting anything in there to adjust it, its kinda tight back there.

Papo, what I did on mine, take the fogs out, then drill a little hole where the adjuster screw sits on the bumper, then you can slide a 5/16 deep socket through and adjust them while tighten and mounted on the bumper....

If for some reason you can't get the adjustment screw to work, use washers. There are two studs for mounting the fog light. You can just add a few washers to the bottom stud. It's a little ghetto, but it'll work.

I'm sur my front bumper is a replacement and there was not hole. Mine ended up being aimed properly, but I cut out the section blocking the adjustment screw.

BTW, read shiftice's page on aiming headlights and driving. As I recall, at 25 feet, the top of the beam should be 4" below the measured center of the driving light from the ground.
The driving light should be aimed low, suppose to illuminate the area right in front the car and to the sides of the road.

Either aftermarket bumper or aftermarket fogs. Either will mess you up unless you drill a hole

I was also wondering the same about adjusting since I recently bought myself some aftermarket fogs because the originals were beat to crap.. they're ok but I'm picky about light alignment. Gotta love this place!

Yeah. I guess the back on all the bumpers are covered. The SM says that you are to remove the lower cover and adjust thru the back. I removed my headlight to reach the fogs. Looks Like I will have to do that again and cut the back section of the bumper. BTW I got Depo OE style fogs. The look fine. Wondering how long they will last before they crack .

^Truth! I've been ordering from them recently while I'm away from my shop. Some of their parts are as cheap or cheaper than my wholesale discount gets me at the local dealership.

Why'd you decide to kill the HID fogs?

Didn't really "light up" the road any better then the Halogens. Had to go thru the hassle of running dual relays on them. One of the relays got stuck and I woke up with one fog on. Not worth it. I took all that crap off. I did get to blind quite a few people with the glare when they where on thou!
