^ yeah I went to autozone yesterday to get new windshield wipers and none of their brands would fit... BMW made a special connection for those so only BMW OEM wipers will work. The cheapest place I found online is $68 shipped... I knew what I was getting into when I purchased this vehicle though.

I'm sitting at home in this bad weather, had a couple of beers, and just watched this video I made a year ago... and it makes me realize how much I miss my Maxima. It REALLY was a great car. Even if it burnt oil, and had a few problems here and there, I think I enjoyed driving that thing much more than I enjoy driving my 335i now. I didn't put as many hours as lots of you guys here on the forum, but it's the first car I've ever modified and it drew me closer to it.

You guys enjoy your Maximas, and be careful out there in the snow... these 5/5.5 gens are really great cars. Newer cars may be faster, and more refined, but definitely not as much fun to drive.

I certainly enjoyed that video giz, that looked fun! It seemed like very little body lean, what was your suspension set-up?

She was a little front heavy compared to the bmw I drive now, which generated quite a bit of understeer (normal for a FF car), but you're right, almost no body roll after the few mods I did to the suspension: KYB gr2 struts with Eibach Pro springs, Stillen RSB and OTTO fstb

I recently wrecked my max like the OP.. I wish I had stumbled upon this earlier today.. I accepted his offer of 5,000 which is about 2 grand less than I paid for the car a year ago..
Hit a pot hole, lost a little control, hit ice, started to loose traction and ran off the road into a wood utility pole..
AAA covers pot hole damage, I just hope someone doesn't try and sue me for the pole I knocked back 6 feet from it's base..
I turned off the engine immediately to preserve it.. I only had 127k miles on it, still moved back and forth..
Should I call them back monday and tell em to shove it, and give me more money?
Or did I pretty much screw myself out of another grand? Had kyb shocks and struts, moog mounts, moog sway bar links, es sway bar bushings..
BTW.. How much does my insurance go up if it's technically not my fault because of pot hole+ice?

How much you get back varies on the options of the car (I see cloth seats), the year (02 or 03?), the area you live (the insurance adjuster looks at the current market value of your car by looking at similar models for sale within a 200mi. radius), and how much your collision deductible is.

It is your responsibility to keep control of your car at all times, regardless of the road conditions. You failed to keep the car in control so it is technically your fault.

My insurance agent told me that my rates will go up 30% year 1 and 2, then back to + 10% the third year, and back to normal after three years. Here again, how much your insurance goes up depends on who you are insured with, what kind of coverage you have, area you live, your driving record etc... Call your insurance to be sure.

Lastly, once you accepted the offer and signed the title off to the insurance, it's too late. If yu haven't signed off the title to them yet, do your own research on Autotrader.com for 3 maximas roughly the same mileage and options as yours within a 200mi. radius and average the value of all 3. If it's significantly more than what you were offered (don't forget to subtract your deductible and add sales tax - 5% in VA, call DMV in your state to know yours), then argue the offer, and ask for more.

Sorry you lost your max dude. I hope you weren't hurt? Everybody take it easy on the snow this winter, be safe out there.

Again, that's ridiculous that that's enough damage to total a 5.5 Max. Gotta love how our consumer economy means everything is disposable.

I am seriously considering not modding my replacement Max for fear somethings going to happen to it and the insurance company is going to total it, which would result In me loosing thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours worth of work... again

right now i have high bid on it at $700, probably going somewhere between $1200 and $1800 on it, but i havent decided yet, fee's at IAAI are high, if i win the car at $1800, im going to have around $2200 in it after i get it home.

im out, its at $1500 right now, if it was at copart id have gone more cause i could inspect it first, but its too far for me to drive to go check out right now.

i hope it goes to a good buyer, should make a good car, if i find out the total amount on it ill post it, but right now after fee's the high bidder will have around $1800-1900 in it with a $1500 bid.
