Well, I replaced my Rear/B1 Oxygen sensor today. Took me a bit longer than I expected, 3 or 3.5 hrs. I thought that removing the old one will be the hard part, but it turned out that installing the new one took most of my time. I may do a write up one day, when my tired back feels better ..... .

Finally got my steering wheel controls working correctly on my new head unit. Had to manually program a couple buttons that weren't functioning right.

On another not. My Kenwood DNX691HD puts out 5V preouts. It's not enough.....clear as a bell, and sounds phenomenal with an ALL STOCK bose system and a new headunit, just not loud enough for my liking. Gonna change it up.

Very much so, too much if you ask me.
The roads that were repaved last year look like minefields, riddled with cracks and potholes.

You guys should buy cars from the southwest. zero rust, and we need less cars here too.

I had three extra amsoil qts so I flushed the power steering.
There were these little black flakes floating in there. I think it's from the black plastic splash guard that's in the tank.

A new one should be bought but maybe next time. I also used a magnafine filter to catch all this black crap. I can post pics if you're curious.

Checked all fluids this morning and air pressure. On road STL for funeral. A couple pics from stop for food. Planning on looking into a den popper on Friday when I get back for the dent on back passenger side and a lil hail damage on hood. Only owned her for 5 days and have big plans. Gotta get her looking better though first!

Thanx. Yeah I have enjoyed driving it so far and love the power it has! I plan on taking a plunger to the dent tomorrow and if that don't work I'm gunna by a dent popper! A few years ago I was apart of a club for 1st gen Tiburons and we used to meet up every week and just bs or go to car shows and etc.! I'd love to see if there's one for Maximas near me and if not I'd like to start one! It's nice to meet and hang with like minded car owners.

was going to do an oil change, got it on stands and noticed a fair amount of oil underneath

decided not to do the oil change and cleaned up what i could so i can look again tomorrow. added about 1/2 qt to bring up the level slightly.

right now it looks like front and rear valve covers and possibily the oil pan itself. i knew there was a minor problem with the front vc before but it seems to have gotten worse. i guess it's time to start planning and dive in deeper next weekend.

congrats!
I did it all not too long ago.
You could smell the burning oil I had to
run the vent door closed all the time it stunk so bad.

front main seal, valve covers, upper oil pan.
Pretty much all sealed up, but I think the tranny steal is slightly leaking so I need to take that out,
might as well do the rear main seal as well.
Get a dewalt it'll make the job go 10000x faster.

I had been contemplating doing some paint work myself but decided it wasn't worth it. Instead I dropped my Max off at a body shop to fix some damage to the hood and some hit and run damage to my front driver's side fender, as well as repainting the bumper, fender, and hood. She should be looking good in a few days.

Why waste hard earned money on a average joe 12+ year old car?

Says the guy who was going to pay someone to basically swap a car into another chassis .

I have about 113k on the odo and I plan to drive this car for another 100k at least so I'd like for it to look good while I do it. Plus, I got a really great quote for the work so the cost is not that bad ($700).

Went to ACE electrical and bought all the supplies to make an O2sim....took about twenty minutes to solder it up, on the oscilloscope it seems to be working just fine.

Last week went to the dealer to have the airbag recall repair done. Took about an hour and a half and they threw in a multi-point inspection and gave me the results which was a nice bonus. I know it's free anyway but they were able to do that and the airbag thing in fair time and had a nice lounge to wait in. Strongly encourage anyone that hasn't done so to get this fixed. Really painless, just call and make an appt.

I had the same process of rationalizing things when i took mine. It mostly came down to doing what makes you happy. 700 is also a really good price. I hope it turns out well.

Sounds like money well spent for the amount of work you are having done. You win two ways - you're happy that everything is fixed and you up the resale value if you ever decide to part ways.

I had the same discussion with myself but took it a bit further

I went ahead and did the front brake pads today.

It appears the last person who did them didn't replace one of the pads as there was too much grip on the others for it to have had accelerated wear because of the rot.

Night and day difference in braking now though.

Topped off the coolant reservoir as well.

Feeling pretty lucky. Got an OEM double din and vent piece for the console on ebay for 40 bucks shipped. No scratches or blemishes, and all clips are still intact. No more ugly aftermarket dash sag.

Yeah, any more than that and it would have been a more difficult decision. I had been shopping around for lower mileage Maxima's but in the end I think I'll spend less money repainting and maintaining my current Max than buying a different one.

I would have liked to take it further as well (color change) but that would have been way too steep. Did you ever post after pics?
