New to forum.. Just purchased a maxima

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and nissans as well. I just sold my Honda and got out of the Honda game and just purchased a 2002 maxima. I was wondering if someone can help me out with the styling. It's dark silver (I guess like a pewter color) and the interior is black leather. I was wondering if someone can help me figure out what taillights and rims I could put on it. I don't want to make it look like a kids driving it. I've been in the Honda game for a while so I'm tired of that lol. I just want it to look clean and not have attention drawn to it. Thanks!!

Welcome to the Org. I like ebay motors for all my aftermarket stuff, but I'm cheap, still a good place to get ideas. Also, stay away from the Off Topic section, there not very nice there. Just my .02 cents.

To the OP - Welcome! You'll find that the mod scene for maximas is somewhat limited especially when coming from Honda. So that's not a bad thing, from what you say it sounds as if you don't want a rice rocket anyhow

Tails - the SE tails always seem to be a hit
Rims - OEM rims look best, you can find G35 rims and what-not, there's a thread in the tires/wheels section I think that's titled "post pics of your max with other gen OEM rims" or something like that.

Other common mods seem to be a drop (get rid of that two dolla hooka wheelgap) and window tint (no fishbowl), as well as performance mods (intake, headers on your 3.5, etc...)

A plethora of information here at your disposal, get your coffee and reading glasses and have at it!

** and the OT section is perfectly fine, nobody bites unless it's usually deserved ***

Welcome to the forum!
Lots of people like the 2000 and 2001 SE tails because they are blacked out for the most part. I'm kind of indifferent. I think some black rims of some sort would look awesome on your car. Like Amerikaner83 said, tint the windows, something I still gotta do. As far as performance goes the VQ35DE responds very well to bolt ons. A good chunk of power can be made with intake and exhaust components, an A/F tuner compliments these components very well. Bigger is better on the Maxima it seems. The engine likes lots of air going in and out. Good luck and enjoy your stay.

Check out Warpspeed and Cattman for your exhaust mods. Stillen makes a nice intake, along with AEM.

Amerkaner83 is right, they only bite if provoked, but don't dare spell anything wrong, you'll have the grammar police after you so fast, lol...

You would be suprised on the amount of different power and handling that new tires add too. I'd go with potenza's but thats just me

Tire selection really all depends on where you drive and how you drive. I'm a lifelong cheerleader of Continental ExtremeContact DWS. Ultra high performance all season for the pacific northwest...sun, rain, and snow, this tire does it all.

A drop, some nice rims (G35 as mentioned above), and window tint will definitely give your car a much better stance...

Welcome to the board and congrats on your Maxima. You definitely will love it much more than Honda, since Nissan has a "love or hate" styling as Honda is just bland and mudane. I think down the road not only it will grows on you but definitely will love it for all things as power, timeless styling that age well.

Welcome to the maxima family. Those rims in the post above should have been as stock rims for 5.5

Tires*

The best tires on the market right now are Michelin Pilot Super Sport's.

Welcome to the forum. Black 00-01 SE tails will look cool. And G35 wheels, SE-R wheels, etc. That depends on taste.

Yes, black looks really good on the max.

If you just bought it I would make sure everything is 100%
common problems seems like broken engine/tranny mounts and dieing maf.

Okay, so you bought it from him or you just use the pics? I guess I'm having a blonde moment...

Edit - Just saw the "had" portion of your post.

I'm just using the pic to show the OP how to make his maxima look nice and clean. My current daily driver is an e92 335i, see my sig.

zero2sixtyZ sold his 5.5 and parted it out. He also bought a 335i btw...
