HID fog problem

Okay so I have high lo HIDs with relay and I decided to match the fogs to them.
So both are now 8000k but the fogs decide when they want to be on. Sometimes when I start it up they both work, sometimes just one, sometimes not at all. When one doesn't turn on and the other does I hear a "zzzzt" sound from the side that doesn't come on. I put in a relay on the fogs and a capacitor on my sub amp. Now they come on more often than not. So the power is there.

What the problem is!?

Crappy hid kit I would assume to be the problem. More than likely the ballasts are shorting out or on their way out. Cheap chinese kits are sometimes like this and it can take up to 2-3 tries returning dead stuff back and forth to get a good one.

I'll give it a shot but I've had at least 3 different pairs on it and none have made a difference

I was having problem with one of my fog lights also. Sometimes only one would come on, sometimes both, and one day, the passenger side just quit working. See this thread: http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...placement.html

I just bought this cheap replacement and never had a problem with it.

Awesome, I've had the same problem and now neither will work. Sometimes it take a light kick to the bumper to wake it, now neither work no matter what. Time to bite the bullet and fix it.

Thanks for link.

Yeah, I had to do that to sometimes. If I would tap or kick the bumper lightly, the light would come on, until it completely stopped working. You can't beat the price of these, and they lasted 2 trouble free years until the car got totaled.

My issue turned out to be the cheap bulbs I had. My system is 55w....I know, I've still not changed it to a 35w.....I know. But the new (NON- ebay) H3c's (shorties) have worked flawlessly. They fit without issue or concern of hitting the deflector.

In short, cheap ballasts and cheap bulbs will both result in problems in consistency and reliability of operation.
