Can Amsoil Full Synthetic ATF be mixed with regular Nissan Matic D for a drain and fill?

Absolutely. AMSOIL Synthetic ATF is fully compatible with other transmission fluids, synthetic or petroleum.

Let me know if I can help...

Did my second drain/fill on my '02 AT. Fluid on the left was in the car since birth. Fluid in the middle was from my first drain/fill.

Very nice pics, clearly shows what a drain/fill can do for a car.

My fluids looked very similar in color after 1st and 2nd drain/fill. Very similar miles on our cars too.

The first time I changed my transmission fluid was at 75K, I dropped the pan and replaced the filter. At 125K I had a transmission flushed and noticed smoother shifting. I am now at 175K with no issues, I will be getting the transmission flushed again soon.

I believe many of the flush horror stories are from owners with existing transmission problems hoping a flush will work magic.

I've been debating on this, since my transmission works good but I believe my transmission oil has never been flushed.

I've had my maxima for about 40,000 miles and never changed the transmission fluid. Im over 170k miles now and have no intentions of messing with it. I actually read on this forum that if you have high mileage, don't mess with it if you're not having problems. For that reason, I wont. I'm surprised how smooth the car still shifts. Good to see the difference in fluid from the OP though.

Actually, the general concensus here is not to do a flush if you have never touched the fluid and have high mileage. Also, its not recommended to mess with it if your tranny is already exhibiting problems. Drain/fill is perfectly fine and will only do good, no harm at all.

I think you have it wrong. You should definitely change your transmission fluid - by "draining and filling" it. You should do that every 30k miles or whenever the fluid gets brown (more often does not hurt, I do it every 15K miles). What is not recommended is a power "flush", where the transmission is flushed under pressure using special equipment. This procedure is not recommended because it may damage the clutch surfaces within the transmission; this danger gets larger as your car gets older.

This definitely sounds like conventional wisdom but I don't want to change it and start having issues. There are so many conflicting posts on this. I see senior members in the threads below recommending not to change it. If they are full of crap, that's another story but i feel like i'm playing it safe by not touching it if everything works fine.

Agree. FSM specifies drain and refill and the vehicles are configured with drain plugs to facilitate this process.

While some of my AMSOIL customers on this site have "flushed" their systems by pulling one of the lines going to the cooler and performing a complete fluid exchange, what's not recommended is the power flushes you mention. I believe some of these systems reverse flush the transmission with the objective being to remove contaminants from the filter...that process has been known to cause problems after being performed.

I've always done a drain and refill on a recurring basis and that has worked well for me in the ~700K I've put on my Nissans (not to mention other vehicles) and the hundreds of other cars I support with products.

I did a flush by overfilling
then just running it out the oil cooler for acouple seconds.
Took about a qt to get all the old stuff out.

I also used a magnafine filter after the cooler. Should catch most of that shiit in the future.
Never dropped the pan? Just do it, it takes no time and the gasket is super cheap.

200,000 miles of wear it's like a metallic paste.
