Headers for a 5.5th gen really harder to find nowadays?

OBX are now a little more pricey...There's also the DNA Motoring routing using 02-06 Altima 3.5 headers and making a few adjustments with the ypipe! A little fabbing goes a long way!

Thanks for the replies guys. I dont really want to deal with OBX so my 2 options are the Altima headers and a Thomas Purdue Y or go with the 3.0 manifolds and warpspeed Y. Again im mostly concerned with getting rid of the precats but performance gains would be nice too obviously.

The DNA Motoring headers are long tube headers. I'm sure a ypipe can be made to complete this system...

Oh I know - I installed the altima headers a good 10 years ago (man I feel old).
For someone that doesn't have the means to fabricate (or if Thomas isn't making the y pipes), the 02-03 OBX headers are still a great buy and install with very little hassle/modification. For reference I'm not talking out of my butt here, I've installed a handful of both headers on 4th and 5th gens.

warpspeed website back up and running, it was down the last time i checked, i am wondering if i should proactively buy a 3rd one, because in the north east my warpspeed y-pipe only lasted 3 years before it failed inspection/emmisions from salt and snow etc

and let me say I am not knocking warpseed , they provide great products and for this literally micro niche market and have continued to do so over many years. so props to them! i am on my 2nd y-pipe, and thinking about a 3rd if that says anything.

are you running the warpspeed y with 3.0 manifolds on a 5.5 gen?

There's some really decent looking eBay Altima V6 headers that may need a little fab work on the ypipe section but they're about the same design as Hotshot....For $97...

i am running stock 5.5 gen manifolds and gutted precats with warpspeed y-pipe and warpspeed fast cat (no longer avail) and stock-ish walker to the end (muffler and axel back b-pipe)

got it, thanks! i saw the post above about how restrictive the 3.5 manifolds are compared to the 3.0, trying to find someone who is running the 3.0/warpspeed y setup on a 5.5 gen so i can pick their brain... also noticed youre in SE PA. im in Downingtown if you know where that is

The header are the same except 02-03 VQ35 don't have any EGR ports and 95-01 VQ30 do have a EGR port with the extra fitting that can be plugged!

Non EGR https://caautoparts.com/products/sta...ima-hds-na02v6

EGR http://www.epartsgo.com/Exhaust/Epar...g-Set/-/209880

I would use the Nissan Altima 02-06 headers and modify the y-pipe to fit the 5th Gen Maxima. The hangar needs to be relocated to the top of the ypipe rear section. A decent mechanic with decent skill can probably figure out what needs to be modified or opt into using the secondary choice of headers from yesteryear....OBX. Can't believe they're $599.00 now! Back in the early 2000's Cattman headers were $850 and OBX were roughly $300-$350 and didn't fit worth-a-****, had to chop the car's Crossmember up to get it to clear it It was a mess!

Here's a bunch of what call starter kits: You got the manifolds just Fab the y-pipe to fit your chassis

So they fit other than the hanger?? I have a set otw, more info on what I need to do to them would be appreciated. Just cut the hangar off and reattach it where it needs to be??

To answer my own question, no. I don't know what CMax03 even meant to say, but the modifications needed to make the 02-06 Altima headers and Y work on the 5.5gen are a LOT more than moving a hangar, and it's gonna take more than a decent mechanic. The 02-06 Altima Y pipe literally exists in the same space as the cross-member, so needs completely reworked to fit with the crossmember. The headers mostly fit without the Y if you notch the engine mount and reweld one of the flanges at a slightly different angle, but you need a completely different or heavily modified Y pipe than what comes with them.

I'm sure it's not hard to even build a mandrel bent ypipe for this application! Just need a chop saw, tape, marks-a-lot, jack stands, safety wire or tie wraps, and plenty of patience. I've fabbed two catbacks for a 3rd and 4th Gen and it was easy and they're still active service!

I utilize several sites for fabricating Intake and exhaust systems:
1. Vibrant performance
2. Columbia River Mandrel Bending
3. Magnaflow Exhaust
4. Summit racing

You see, you say stuff like that to make it seem easy. Then you end up with crap like the photos below from people attempting this without full understanding, including muffler shops that just want you out the door.

Judging by your glossy description of what needs to be done to make it work, you've never dealt with these headers on a A32/3.

I'm not saying its impossible, but it definitely more difficult than you make it seem.
Is a little tricky getting the bends correct and smooth for the rear bank for a header meant for a different subframe, but it will be easier for an experienced fabricator (which can mean $$).

Photos from a 5.5 gen 6mt I found at the junkyard with altima headers:

For anyone thinking about tackling this you can see the iterations I went through trying to get the y pipe right for the altima headers back when it was relatively unknown (sources linked in my thread). I was a budding fabricator at the time and had a friend with a welder "that could do it". Took me a few iterations to get it right and I learned along the way.
Is it going to take everyone this many tries to get it right? I sure hope not.
https://maxima.org/forums/all-motor/...-knockoff.html

Thomas Perdue (fb) or t4367p (or something like that on here) makes a great y pipe for these if you are unsure of fabrication skills at local shops near you.

It would seem they do, as stated their site was still active and i spoke with someone via email regarding a Y-Pipe not too long ago before i made the decision to go through Thomas Purdue instead.
