Since I purchased this car, I have not been able to figure out the subwoofer issue. It seems that the last owner replaced the sub, and I think what they put is incompatible with the car. Here are some images.

If the sub doesn't work, then it's probably the infamous broken solder joint.

Here are three links on the Bose sub issue. It's a relatively easy fix if that's what you have going on. The 2000 cars had a slightly different setup from the 2001-03 cars but both are covered in the threads.

Pretty sure that is NOT a BOSE subwoofer. You need to get a more powerful amp that is 2oh or 4ohm stable to get that thing to bump. Good luck!

 

Yeah, you're right LMAO. I thought maybe they wired the blose part to the new sub (it works fine, I've done it), but they just left their sub in the car after they removed the other equipment.
I assume you don't have a stock radio, right?

I can't imagine it sounds decent unless it's a free air woofer (doesn't look like it to me).
Get a box and amp for that thing and hook it up. I've always wanted to make a custom box and bolt it under the rear deck, so I don't lose any cargo space.

 

Everything is stock......somebody just removed the all sub and put this one in without connecting anything. The sound is meh in the car, maybe because of this. I did find a OEM sub for $20. Probably going to pick that up instead....do not really want to deal with getting a box and new amp and all of this...I am not very technically inclined, nor have the real interest for upgrading sub. If you want this sub, I'll sell you it for $25 + shipping lol.

 

The first question that needs to be answered is... Do you have the standard radio or the Bose radio?

I suspect that the car has the standard radio, which did not come with a sub woofer and the previous owner added one on. To find an after market sub woofer that works with Bose is kinda difficult.
